TM - Tactic Thread - Discuss tactics, observations and (only tactical aspect post)
Pure tactic thread, so plz no just one liner "we have no tactics) plz post observations, so it can be a deeper discussion

I have noticed: no sign of structured defense to get in good position for conquering the ball at the right place on the field, and being in good position to start a build up.
modern footbal, you can se the lines

    Example 2-1-3-4 with -- - --- ---- as example

    --
    - when this goes up, and puts pres with the 2 on top, the rest follows at a given signal, that makes ut hard to play out and the team with the ball has to shoot a longi, making it a good possibility to get position of the ball, and be in good position to attack, with players up field. when we have the ball we have 8 players in or outside our pebaltybox, no structure, have to begin buldup at zero.

--- these 3 will follow the lone - when it comes up to the two - - in top and puts pressure at player having the ball on the opponents right side, top 2 attack at goalie and left defender, the three midfielders aka - - - goes up and presses at the same time. thats how Porto and Liverpool has done many times.

---- these 4 defenders move up a bit to be able to head or get hold of an eventual clearance long ball, and either put offside if not collecting the ball, tacle in midfield so team can come down the field or take the ball and start attack with all team in good positions

this also leads to our players starting buldup in bad positions, when having all team no press outside our own penaltybox, like vs korea or now algeria at several times.
so they have to pass the ball to players running in bad positions, who has nobody to pass to, or have to find tight hard angle passes. and we get those big no no passes that is interupted in dangerzones where team absolutely shouldnt loose the ball, aka in middle of our own half and so on, we saw that plenty of times from our right side for an
    example.

team is playing an outdated and unmodern football,

now im no coach, i just observed good teames play and like to se how the lines run together in sync.
cq had other version, but very clear lines when we played out the other team to our sides with our line of players. thats an other way to approach it, in a more defensive way for countering.

maybe, those with better/high knowlage of this lines can post your observations?

I hope my first -- post made sence, its hard to make a picture in paint, like a whiteboard and post since the site say picture is to big and so on.. but hope what i wanted to lift was clear.

look forward to reading other observations or comments on this

Kick the coach out..too many uses of players with no experiences against England is not going to work.. this is not an experimental stage we are in with 5 months left for goodness sake..Omid noorafkan showed us he has no idea what he is doing as a coach..

lol, i say we have no tactics, first thing i did..
trying to find the root of why we play as we do and explain what we miss
that everything is in a chain.

if we plan to play in a special sort of way, we need to first defend in a special sort of way, to be able to buld and play attacking football in a sort of way.
football resembles chess in that way, forseeing where we could win the ball, and if we press this way, what are the alternatives we can be seing from the other team.
            aka the system.

we have no system, or a system that play one attack and one defense part. its not in sync, when we get the ball, it can be wherever on the field, we dont lead the other team to play at certain areas so we can win the ball while being in good position to make something of it. aka hawaii beach football

so we can have a great attack plan, and practice that, and a good defence practice session, but if the thought of how we couquer the ball doesnt line up, we have no plan when we have the ball, first we have to get the ball, run in right position and so on, this takes time, we might loose the ball as we did vs algeria and korea, instead of when we win the ball, its often all set already wit positions and everybody knows what to do.. who to pass and so on. then the attack play is much easyier, now its just we take it as it comes and when we have the ball, we pass it around so the players can get in position, or we get a longi if we have a free runner.. doesnt work that way anymore, game has evolved since the 1990s..

              this is some examples,
for my example, watch first half of the champions league final vs real and observe the lines and how they press.
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXn0KPPHzuY
              example.
              5.10
              7-06,
              13.50
              16.20-16.36
and many more. Basicly all first half, and most of the game

One thing I’ve noticed is we rely too much on the wings for build up play, especially when we face a good pressing opponent (Algeria).

Our midfield (Ezatollahi, Nourellahi, etc) need to drop back deeper or make themselves more available to help build up play in the middle. I remember in the AC2019 against another good pressing opponent (Japan), Dejagh would drop back to help remedy the situation. Ideally, our center backs needs to posess the skill and confidence to carry the ball forward more to help relieve the press at times, to also help reduce the gap between our defense and midfield.

If we don’t fix this problem before November, opposing defenses will easily shut us down on this predictable build up wing play.

Thx for this reply, very interesting observation. Yes we definately need more alternatives so we can break free from press if we are going to play current system, and also in other systems.. ae do have moments of brilliant passings, but thats when players suddenly are in good sync positions, then they show they can play. Sadly it it like 3 times per game vs harder opponents.. so its clear system isnt putting players in enough good positions or they arnt following instructions properly.. Its to easy to win the ball from us atm or put us in bad position with our low defence when we win the ball..

Tactically it seems we no longer play park the bus and kick and chase. Which is a huge breath of fresh air after 8 years of that garbage with no results to show for.

^^ LOOOOOOOL the usual not so smart members will thank you for this post. Mehrez subbed off angry lol. I guess all the other stats and results don't matter only a game vs Algeria and Korea matter. Interestingly in both we saw individual errors too. Also interestingly had Iran won both games by 3 goal margins it would have been thanks to the foundation that CQ built for us. Heyyyyyyyy lucky us...

We cannot play out from the back. It works against weak Asian sides but in the world cup we will get humiliated. We need to play direct if not route one. That is our only chance. SSADLY!

lol it's surprising that you don't see the difference in class between the Queiroz era and the circus we have seen the past 2 years - it was ugly but it was something that was working. And don't play the we didn't win the AFC or World Cup card.

In both World Cup we performed Amazing against world giants Argentina, Portugal, Spain.

We choked against Japan and Iraq for AFC title cause of cultural mindset issues mainly but hey, there are many good teams that don't just win the cup - are they shit?
