Robin van Persie is probably originally Iranian

Persie is the older spelling of Persia. During the 17th century the trade between Holland and Iran was hot, they came to the Persian Gulf and the Armenian Iranian even build a church in Amsterdam. Some Iranian trademen stayed in Holland.

Although this happened 400 years ago and many of the Dutch-Iranians and Iranian-Dutch are not aware of this anymore, you could see some Iranian in Robin van Persie (His facial expression and dark hair).

I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

i read about this just now on a Dutch forum....some dudes were saying he could have Iranian lineage as 'Van' in Dutch means 'from'......i.e. from Persi(a).

              !!!!
IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Obviously after 400 years or so in Holland his bloodline is pretty Dutch, but his last name is quite odd. Is Van Persie very common in Holland?

There are very similar name in France: Le Perse or La Perse. The two names are from Brittany (West of France).
But anyway, thanks to KC for this information about Dutch merchants' activities in the Persian Gulf.
