    Iran Vs. Madagascar Postmatch discussion

Guys, im really sorry to say this, but as much as i love our TM, we simply SUCK, i mean we are below ZERO.

Today our team played MADAGASCAR, a team that barely exists! Im sure 90% of the worlds football fans have never heard of this team, and the ranking of 173 or something is just stating the obvious!

yeah sure, our players are tired, we just had a camp, we have a new coach etc etc etc, but im sorry im not gonna buy this kind of bullshit!

In a normal day we should have TRASHED this team 5-0 at least! But today Madagascar seamed like Barcelona! We were totally outplayed in the second half. This was a disaster and i was ashamed of our team today, we showed no game plan, no defensive plan, no offensive plan, we could'nt keep the ball, we couldn't even pass! We had nothing! Zip, ZERO!

Im so angry right now i dont even know what to say!

What do you guys think? Cause with this kind of football i think we will lose both legs against Maldives....I hate to say it but i think im even gonna bet on that on the internet and win some good money!

People who are critisizing karimi probably see that he was not the worst player on the field.

On the other hand if we needed khatbari or any other players that were suggested by members here for playing better football against Madagascar, then we realize that TM did not do such bad job at AC!

All in all this whole thing shows that how much the level of our players and football as a whole has dropped compared to few years back. And back then our players did not recieve such huge salaries.

It would take more than few years for Quirez to build a descent team on the condition that our palyers are also responsive and adapt to his tactics, and that is the bigger problem!

It would be a waste of time to analyze this TM and its games since they hardly showed any reasonable football. We can only hope for improvements that results in less embaressment for our football.

    FIRST HALF –

Nothing much to brag about. A very mediocre performance. And I cant even bring the excuse of “let them get coordinated”, coz the bulk of the line up has been playing with each others for years now and even the defense has been in one club! So that excuse is out.

They seem to be playing a 4-3-3 formation, with karimi way too deep, which is why we didn’t see much playmaking by him. Next to him are Pejman Nouri who is another defensive player with only Bao a few paces in front of them. But Bao, while a decent player, isn’t exactly known for his playmaking which compels us to ask why Hadadifar is sitting out and why Mobaali was dropped. Well, I think we all got our answer and got an idea of what to expect if we don’t use these two and play karimi too deep.

For years (after he came back from Bayern) I have been impressed by karimi’s ability to win the ball back in 1 on 1’s. this, at that time, was a new side of him and he has shown to be very adept in this. Today’s high rate of re-possessions by him underlines this.

Dropping Reza Nowroozi for Hadi nowroozi??? … well, need I say anything more. Lets hope we got our answer on this issue too.
I hope CQ keeps the Ansarifard-Oladi duo up front a bit longer. I think this pair shows a lot of potential and it is worth investing on.

among the positives, I must say Hajsafi is doing well going forward. But he was always good at that. his weakness has been his defending under pressure. but this opponent is not going to test him and we need to check him out against more decent opposition.

another positive is the movement of the team (the front 4-5 players at least, with Heidari & hajsafi adding to them). they seem to move quicker and find spaces better. I hope this trend continues and we see this become a habit for our players. it was promising so far.

    overall, an unsatisfactory first half.

    SECOND HALF -

This half also didn’t offer much in terms of quality and in fact as it wore on, the quality got lower and lower. A very alarming matter as we were playing the world’s 138th team.

If we were showing this level of performance against a top 30 team, I wouldn’t have minded it. But 138th? That’s abysmal. Especially when we allowed this many freekicks right in front of our box and actually allowed a few dangerous moments and chances at our goal! now, that's scary

Another issue was the number of chances our forwards and midfielders got and they wasted it in most immature, amateurish manner!

Ansarifard was the big surprise of the game for me. Not only did he waste so many great chances he got (2-3 of them were literally 1 on 1’s which he scoffed terribly) but also he didn’t do well as a part of the team, be it when he tried to defend or come back and receive balls. I guess those who thought Reza Nowroozi didn’t deserve to be in the team got their answer.

I was seeing Pouladi play at LB for the first time and he, like hajsafi looked good going forward. But again, like hajsafi, he is more a midfielder so it isn’t a surprise to see him do well up front. It is when we see them defend at the back that leaves a lot to be desired. We shall see more on this as we play better teams.

CQ’s first game wasn’t impressive at all. I put it down to initial jitters of an unfamiliar coach in unfamiliar surroundings and players. But even this game shd have given him (and us) plenty to think about and consider when picking the players for a game.

we have lack of technicaly skilled players and most of all the lack of mind game and playing creative as a team, it seems like they dont know wtf to do with the ball when creating a chance, they need an iq test..ooo not to mention how awfull there shooting is

Problem is that we think just because we have a decent international coach now, we are automatically going to win the WC and all issues are suddenly sloved.

Sorry, but the very MAIN problem (the whole IFF) exists and as long as these IR criminals breathe in our country, there will be no major progress, whoever the coach might be...simple as that.

That being sad, this was just a meaningless friendly after 5 or 6 months and CQ's first offical match, so no need to exaggerate IMO, at least not because of the match today.

Torabian had said before that we would not see any fancy works by the players instead a more one touch passes and team work in this game.

Fine, but that should be thaught at junior levels when the players are shaping up?

For 23+ players that are what they are, a wise coach would to try realize their abilities and use them in the best possible manner to get results.

These players are very little adaptive to tactics that they are not used to, and the coach should not try to change their mentality rather should try to manage their mentalities and give them a sense of direction and teach them how to use their skils in the best possible way to their advantage.
