1st and 3rd one are Turkey in 2002.

1) They played China in the group stages. Japan in the 2nd round and SK for the 3rd/4th spot.

3) They played China, Brazil, Costa Rica, Japan, Senegal, Brazil again and South Korea.

I know this so well because every now and then I get in an arguement with my Turkish friends when they start over how amazing they were in WC 02. I keep bringing up that they had the easiest way possible to the semi finals and that the only big opponent they faced (Brazil) they lost both gamesto.

Getting to the semi's over the back of teams like Japan, Senegal, Costa Rica, China is a once in a lifetime happening and not that big of a deal.

Good job although in fairness TMI1995 answered it first. I wanted to post both of those as one question but I figured if I clumped them together, if you knew the answer to one, it would give away the other as well.

Unless you are very old (which I’m sure you’re not) the one instance I know of happened in your lifetime. I don’t think there are any other instances besides this one.
