They played all continents except Oceania. It also happened in your lifetime.

Ah I got it. I started thinking which opponents the finalists played since 1998 and it has to be Germany in 2006.

Group stages:
Saudi Arabia (8-0 ) - Asia
Ireland - Europe
Cameroon - Africa

2nd round vs. Paraguay - South America

QF vs. USA - North America

ps: I'm (much) older than the WC 1998 one, but I tried to remember all the opponents Argentina and Germany played in 1990 and then the ones Brazil and Italy played in 1994 til they reached the final, but I couldn't remember them all, so I started at 1998
