Esteghlal vs. Paykan, in Qazvin; News, Pics & Pre-Match discussions

Well Esteghlal went to Qazvin and it's first training there.

They went to Hotel Olympic in Tehran, had their lunch served there. Around 12 they left for Qazvin. Got in Qazvin at 13.45, and started their training at 14.00. Trained for an hour and then went to the hotel that was nearby the training field and they watched the Sepahan-Persepolis game.

    .

19 players went to Qazvin, no Maniei.

    .

Taleblou, Koushki, Ghorbani, Montazeri, Amirabadi, Heydari, Jabbari, Akbarpour, Borhani, Shakouri, Namdari, Rinaldo, Beykzadeh, Ravankhah, Abbasfard, Alizadeh, Khaziravi and Pouladi. One of them will be left out of the squad for tomorrows game.

    guys...frustrating game!
pity we had a draw in this game!
we missed so many good chances coupled by some badluck like pouladi's shot which hit the bar or the 100% penalty on akbarpour which wasnt given.
the poor finishing ofcourse was our fault and cant be blamed on anyone else.

without janvario, our team cant play that smooth fluent football in the middle. i cant understand why every game, GN starts with pouladi instead, realizes that the midfield is not working and then pulls him out at half time?

i was not satisfied with hossein kazemi today either. was less dynamic and not very mobile.

borhani was also a total waste, infact past few games, he has always been a waste. he needs to start being benched, specially if we are going to resort to aerial balls in the absence of janvario, then play alizadeh or abbasfard instead who can win some aerial balls.
in the first half, all our aerial balls were cleared.
but second half, with alizadeh's entrance, we started winning possession upfront as well seemed dangerous on crosses.

i think GN should have put in abbasfard for borhani instead of shakouri, or play ghorbani upfront as secodn striker with shakouri filling up for him in defense. wat GN did however by introducing shakouri was send pejman montazeri on the line, which i dont think was very effective.

also, rinaldo played 15 minutes and was totally not existent. like i kept saying, i prefer us playing an already proven player than a new foreigner who is not only new to iranian football, culture, team and hashiye, but more importantly, hasnt even proven himself to be a good player.
atleast ravankhah has shown us he is very capable in midfield, so lets get him back into shape first!

although jabbari wasnt the best player today, but u could see atleast he was being effective with good positioning and passing. rinaldo didnt even touch the ball in the whole 15 minutes except for 1 or 2 turnovers.

another thing is our direct freekicks. all are pathetic. kazemi and akbarpour blasted every shot straight into the wall...waste, waste, waste!

also, our turnover rate is increasing lately, which i think is mainly cos of excess dribbling. we should pass more and dribble less, our players are playign selfishly lately.
borhani, akbarpour, pouladi even at times khosro heydari do excess dribblings which not only wastes our chances but at times, can cost us in counter attacks like the goal we conceded today.

overall, we didnt play well, our midfield was dead, but we created good load of chances and deserved to win. i just hope GN realizes that pouladi is not gonna work and if he wants to resort to aerial balls, play either abbasfard or alizadeh infront like the 2nd half today!

we are still 1 point ahead, and if we dont lose to zobahan on wednesday, we are still in the better position, although its gonna be very stressful from now on!

btw guys, amirabadi stupidly got a yellow card. he will be suspended against zobahan. like a fool, he tackled with both feet on the side line when there was no real danger!

and btw, its sometime he has been playing average as well. i think he needs to start getting subbed again, so he will begin to remain on top form again and feel threatened of relegating to the bench. now i hope manei's injury wont last till wednesday

I think the reason Abbasfard didn't get subbed directly for Borhani was Akbarpour. When Alizadeh replaced Pouladi, Siavash went back one line, and again, as expected did not deliver there. That's why GN put Shakouri to replace Montazeri, so our midfield would not be void.

Btw, it seemed to me that after the Shaokuri sub, we were playing more 4-4-2 than 3-5-2. Can anyone confirm this? (Shakouri, Ghorbani, Montazeri, Koushki) (Amirabadi, Kazemi, Jabbari, Heydari) (Siavash, Alizadeh)

Overall, our performance was better in the first half, and we were quite unlucky on shots from Pouladi and Borhani. I've noticed a huge difference in our gameplay after the derby. Now it has partially to do with Juanario's absence, but some of it is also mental. In games that we concede a goal, the team becomes emotionally distorted somewhat. There's less discipline, and more mistakes. Did you see how many times Seyedsalehi passed our D today and created dangerous chances??

Anyway, I think that GN knows better than anyone what the team's problems are, and hopefully now that Majidi is available for the next game, the midfield will do a better job.

    alizadeh, not arash.

and i really dont know wat happened after shakouri came in for borhani... i couldnt figure out the formation or the plan...

but anyways, we still have this in our own hands. we play all the same opponents zobahan does, except for one team which is saipa for us and bargh for them.
if we dont lose to zobahan in esfahan, we are still in a good position.

    Thanks, edited.

And yea I was first like wtf? He's bringing a D for a striker?? Then I'm like ok because of Alizadeh... GN basically ended up making two subs to accommodate the fact that Majidi got that stupid yellow card an couldn't play today .

The team needs to bounce back, and hopefully with Zobahan slipping a few points here and there, we'll be champions prior to the season finishing...
