I was not Iran at the time, but eventhough I was a little kid, I was still a die hard SS fan and heard all about the game

great pix....good old days where Perspolis and esteghlal players played for the shirt, they put their life on the line to wear that red of blue shirt....such players are not around anymore...I think players like Alireza Mansourian Kazemian (altho he doesn't play in Perspolis at the moment b/c he was told to leave...)are the closest we come to these days.

Absolutely....
For current players, it's hard to name more than a few who would possibly fit that category of dedicated, passionate players.
I'd say Ali Karmi does care about his team and values his shirt..despite the perception about him being this and that.
In Essteghlal, I think Ghorbani is different from others, in terms of passion for his team
But yeah, the curent generation of playesr are so different from older generation of Nasser Mohammadkhani, Kermani Magham, Moharrami, Hajilo, Fariba, Bayani, etc

haha no way.. wow! that must have been something.. i hope i get chance soon and see the boys in blue at azadi myself even though like we mentioned earlier it seems today players don't play for the shirt but rather who pays more cash..
one player that i wish i could have had a chance to see in person and maybe even more is amir hashemi.. i was too young to really remember
