How does it work? I just see some text. Do I need to have something installed on my PC?

You need a torrent client, such as uTorrent, that program allows you to open the torrent files and download it from my computer, when someone has completely downloaded the file, he/she can start seeding the file to so it can be downloaded from his/her computer which will speed up the further downloads.
