what is number 3 all about ?

india having 1/4th of the world populuation by itself has great potential if soccer is more promoted there just like china. if india pours the money it pours in cricket into football as well, it will be a huge boost for asian football.
u have to understand this list has been made from AFCs perspective and not as an iranian football fan. AFC is trying to promote football all over asia specially in east asian countries like thailand, vietnam, malaysia, etc by giving them a chance to host the latest asian cup 2007 and south asian countries specially india who have a population of over 1 billion.
btw, we did actually lose to india in the asian games final 1-0 in 1951 and again they beat korea a few years later and won gold again. in the 50s, india was quite good in football in asia, hence the term "revitalized". i hope they can make it to football again. india is a country i have great respect for, their people are hardworking, humble, smart. its a secular country and probably the closest definition to a true democracynot to forget, its great culture, history, traditions and civilization and the massive scientists and engineers they produce every year.

1)iran not making it to the 2nd round of worldcup qualification
2)uzbekistan rising as an asian powerhouse (and reemergence of the great soviet union football again as a whole)
3)impressive performance by cahill, park & nakamura continues.. (park winning the EPL and the champions leauge probably)
4)like michael kurosh said, impressive performance by asian teams in olympics
5)iran or japan winning the asian futsal championship this year.
6)north korea football reemerging slowly again after a long break..

in 2008 I think it will be the year that Iran TM will be ranked 120 after we end up tieing or losing every match that we play and following the same road that India took after being an important name at one time in asian football and then turning out to becoming a no body in asain football yes that will happen to Iran as well what a sad year for Iran and it's football INDEED.
