Below is what I found On Hamburg website. This time they refrained from ridiculing the result, where they attributed last year's result to voting irregularity,(aka,multiple voting) of crazy Iranian fan.
I myself only voted once,
I swear. lol 
As has been the case in recent years, HSV’s Iranian wing-wizard Mehdi Mahdavikia won our latest poll which asked you to tell us your HSV player of last season! The crowd favourite won the poll hands down with a whopping 57% (2,556 votes) from a total of 4505 votes. Mahdavikia surprised many people by playing a superb season at right back, after being considered to be surplus to requirements at the start of the 2005/6 season.
