Dennis Yerai Eckert @ Royale Union Saint-Gilloise 2022-23

Dennis signed with one of Belgium's best clubs last year (they finished second behind Club Brugge). They qualified for Champions League third qualifying round.

Dennis has Iranian heritage. He is 25 years old and a forward.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

    WOW, huge move!

    Unfortunately, Mazzu signed with Anderlecht.

If he regularly starts and scores, he should be called up. Great club and team.

Great move for him. Bit surprised he managed to pull it off but he played well overall in 3rd and 2nd bundesliga in past couple seasons, versatile and still young. Belgian teams have had success shopping in lower german divisions lately. Obviously we are really well stacked up front with Alipour, Shahab, Allahyar, Ansarifard as reserve CFs but with this move he can definitely move into contention for a callup provided he gets decent playing time

Does he have any interest in TM as far as we know?

Unfortunately there is racism and discrimination against Iranian hybrids, case in point Tafazolli. Garbage like Noorafkan gets played as CB, but Tafazolli doesn't even get a call up? Same goes for Iranians playing North American leagues, if you are a hybrid you get underlooked.

He has Iranian flag in his profile. He is also part Spanish and German - and will not be getting called up to those national teams.

If he has interest playing the World Cup (which he will) - then he will accept it.

Then maybe someone like the Gol Bezan folks can get this guy on record stating interest. Then we can hype him up and get iffs attention.

Jumped from the bottom of 2. Bundesliga (relegated to 3rd tier) to the upper echelon clubs of Belgium. Definitely a solid move. Hope he wins a starting position and gets tried out for TM

I know it’s a question that has come up before in his previous threads.

He is proud of his Iranian heritage, I think someone on here said that they know him (or the family) personally and he has visited Iran before.

This is a great move for him. Celta Vigo obviously saw something in him when they gave him starts in the first team for them. He struggled on loan in Holland and then made the move to Germany - built his reputation back up and had a couple of great seasons in the 3rd division there. Issue with him was having Covid a couple of times, was quite ill with it one of the times and spent time out. There was lots of time out injured too and they came at the worse times - for example beginning of season.

His team in second division was the worst one last season and he struggled with injuries again but when he was match fit he played well. In one game he contributed to 4 (potentially 5) goals.

He is fast, can play across the front three and has good link up play. Especially with a bigger target striker. His main weakness I feel is his body strength, there was games when he was playing against strong defensive units where he struggled to make an impact and the coach would take him off early or not start him. For example the second leg of the play off when they didn’t get promoted. The coach saw he struggled against the defence in the first leg and then brought him on as a sub in the second leg to use his pace against a tiring defence.

We have contacted him numerous times but he doesn't seem to be keen on doing interviews. We'll keep trying
