    Asian Cup 2023

Seems China doesn't want to host this edition and that means that it may be pushed back to Jan 2024 - with Qatar probably taking it.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Why doesn't China want to host it?

It might be because of complications due to Covid.

What a joke. They postponed the asian games last week. They are cancelling important competitions affecting athletes from a whole contitent because of a few hundred covid cases. They should be banned from nomination for future events.

Alas! Only if we had a competent IFF and a semi-competent government. Another opportunity gone down the drain.

          Go TM!

You are right Leicester City jaan. I forgot that they have submitted a package for that. I don't think they will get it. We shall see.

                Go TM!

Chinese clubs recently pulled out of the Asian Champions League as well. They may have some huge issues with AFC.

They blamed COVID, but no idea.

It appears to be in Nov/Dec - same part of the season they are doing the World Cup.

It will be announced soon by the looks of it, so we will know.

Apparently, South Korea wants to get into the mix. Much better than Qatar. Modern stadiums and great country. If they win it, they will host it in the summer, as was slated.

SK is much better. We don't need another winter tournament

Japan in the mix as well. It seems that when the tournament is held (Summer 2023) - is critical for AFC's decision on who gets hosting rights.
