Off course IFF is incompetent, lazy and lack creativity.
If we have a hard time to finalize friendlies with world cup winners like cameroon or costa rica, maybe we can explore other solutions.

Catalonia/basque country (even outside fifa date), decent European clubs (like when we played French clubs in 1998).

They can bring excuses for playing against other nations.
But can we tolerate excuses for not organizing friendlies against Persian gulf league club teams? They are our own teams (better than nothing at all).

2006 also had Ukraine which was cancelled.
2014 was embarrassing prep. 0 money.

In 2006, matches with Romania, Ghana, Ukraine were scheduled and then cancelled all because of politics. That campaign TM played Bosnia Herzegovina in a friendly and won 5-2.

2014 preparation was not the best, however it was not bad either. Let's be realistic they decided to only prepare for Nigeria and Bosnia Herzegovina, so TM lost to Guinea 2-1, drew Belarus 0-0, Montenegro 0-0, Angola 1-1 and won Trinidad 2-0. In that campaign they mentioned teams like Serbia, Hungary, Ghana, Gabon, DR Congo, Congo and few others but don't know why they couldn't setup the friendlies with them.

Last campaign 2018, they mentioned big names such as Italy, Netherlands also some like Ivory Coast, South Africa, Ghana, Senegal, Hungary. They did setup friendlies with Poland, Norway however both were cancelled. The only good thing about that campaign was that Russia, Panama, Tunisia whom TM played were World Cup Teams. Turkey and Algeria were really good opponents as well.

This time, what I like to see is friendlies with likes of Uruguay, Peru, Colombia, Canada, Costa Rica and if some of these teams refuse to play, then get likes of Honduras, Panama. Outside FIFA days what would be good is to play likes of Northern Ireland, Ireland, Poland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden to somewhat prepare for England.

New Zealand is only good for reserve players and has no other benefits for TM. I would have preferred Albania, Iceland over New Zealand any day. Estonia and Malta would be either same-level as New Zealand or maybe even stronger at the moment so I would still preferred Estonia and Malta over New Zealand as well, TM never faced them before so those matches would have been more exciting and interesting than New Zealand.

Didn't want to throw names of possible opponents even if misaghi tried to push him and insinuated future KSA opponents could be interesting options.
Majedi says there could be a 4 team tournament and confirmed discussions with northern and south Ireland but both team cannot play Iran bc of their schedule

Not surprised. In IR Iran, bullshit and lying is the norm and commonplace. It trickles-down to all their industries - and also, the good journalists are in jail folks. So you have someone's pesar-amoo who is a "journalist" now and there to appease the fat cats.

If they were confident in getting friendlies, I am sure they would wait for confirmation and then announce it. But they know their own incompetence and want to act like they left no stone unturned. And while they are BSing, why not BS big. Brazil, Argentina... yeah right.

Where is the hell is Skocic. He is the coach and he is responsible to put forward a preparation plan and map out what potential friendlies are needed? Then the federation to get involved and do whatever it can to finalize the plan.

It seems that things are working backward in that backward country!
