      FIFA World Cup 2022 Qualifiers
This is a list of the 2022 World Cup qualifying teams. How the FIFA World Cup qualifiers work and which countries can join them.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina have become the latest former champions to book a ticket for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar a year before it begins. South America’s representatives secured a spot in the tournament after Argentina and Brazil played out a goalless draw. The 22nd World Cup will feature former champions Brazil, England, Germany, France, and Spain.

We take a look at the confederation-wise qualified teams and those who can make the trip to Qatar as the first qualification phase for the 2022 World Cup approaches its end. The FIFA World Cup 2022 is scheduled between November 21 and December 18.

With 32 teams competing in the World Cup, it may be the last time this happens. FIFA is already working on expanding the event to 48 teams in 2026, when it will take place in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada.

FIFA matchdays are used for qualifier games for the World Cup 2022. As of November 16, 2021, there had been eight matchdays. Additionally, there are two matchdays left in the qualifiers on January 27 (9), and January 30 (10). Two days in February (11), three in March (12), one in March (13) and one in March (14), all in 2022.

Three winners of the second round, as well as the five top teams (ranked 1-5 based on the FIFA rankings of July 2020) will compete in the third round. The top three teams get direct qualification. The fourth place team advances to the inter-confederation play-offs. The eight participating teams are: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, and the U.S.

      Oceania (OFC)
      FIFA-Oceania (OFC)

In addition to American Samoa, the teams are: Cook Islands, Fiji, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga and Vanuatu. FIFA will announce the 32 national football teams participating in the World Cup in Qatar by the end of March 2022.

Its intentional. They are trying to get tourists to UAE and even Saudi, since Qatar, Saudi and UAE are reconciling.

Would have been a good opportunity for Kish too!

Weird if true. The game you watch finished at let's say 11pm. You are not going to join an other country to find an hotel!

In the contrary, wc26 is really unappealing to me. 48 teams, on 3 huge countries/continent (2 of them don't really care about football), and one of them applying restrictions on Iranian travelers

Watching 4 games back to back everyday for about 12 days is going to burn you out. Bad decision in my opinion. They should have stayed with having 3 games a day.

They are trying to get this tournament done in as short of a time frame as possible since it is happening in November/December and players have league games that have been shut down because of wc. But this is horrible for players as there will probably be a game every 4 day, and by third game, performance will drop significantly having played 3 games in 9 days. For teams that advance, this tight schedule continues. Very important to have a good and complete bench.

In the end, Qatar will spend whatever money it needs to make the hotels. They'll probably set up temporary hotels in the desert with all amenities and luxuries depending on how much you pay.
