Already he introduced some really exciting young players : Abdelmonem 22 year old CB who started AFCON as a sub but after great game cemented himself as starter (shades of Majid Hosseini rise to prominence) - he had an excellent game tonight I thought. Also callup + giving lot of trust to Marmoush, also 22, who previous management had no interest in despite his game time and decent performance for Stuttgart in Bundesliga.
Sure he will find more in next few months and give them real chances, improve their level in preparation for WC. Another youngster who CQ trusted a lot is LB Fattouh, had a brilliant game tonight against pepe who was flying through algerian defense last week.
This aspect is one we really have missed in TM since his departure.
Queiroz has done a fairly good job at managing the squad since the Nigeria disaster. Still don’t personally agree with all his choices, but the selection and performance against another top African side is what we need to see regularly.

Fatouh is a very good player and he’s Europe ready. He has a very high ceiling. Having him back in the squad after injury was so key for this match. I support Arsenal as well and as much as I like Pepe, he had him completely neutralized.

Zizo is another player I rate and he already has Ligue 1 interest so I won’t be surprised if he returns to Europe soon. He already did well in Portugal and Belgium as a young player.

Regardless, it will be a mighty game to watch. I like both teams.
Not really that Morocco coach is with KSA and doing wonders for them !

This tournament is awful. 2 games 4 hours 0 goals. They need to revamp African football somehow. This is really poor-quality soccer.

What are you talking about? The first match was definitely played at a high level with mostly European based players on the pitch. So if a Premier League match ends 0-0, it automatically means it’s poor football? You sound like you’re just hating in all honesty.

The referees have been far worse than the actual players.

              The players have been ok

The bottom teams in this tournament are far better than India, Kyrgyzstan, Yemen, Thailand, etc. Who are you kidding?

Seriously guys there is a big drop off in Africa after the top 12 teams but you guys acting like the midtier African teams would not stomp Yemen, Turkmenistan, India etc

the reason the media coverage is 100000x more is because of the high profile European legionnaires in this tournament, Far more EPL players= far more coverage. No one in Europe wants to follow Asian cup for just Son Heung Min

Japan have a style of play that is much enjoyable than all African teams. Collective play, organization. African rely mostly on individual talents

Bottom teams disappear quickly. What matters is top and middle/average teams
