IMO neither of these players (Hajsafi and Milad) have any place in TM squad moving forward. Hajsafi is long past his sell date and milad has actually played so poorly in ALL of his recent TM games (past 2 years) it would be wrong to call him back
Fact that they play in a semi pro league warrants a place in TM. Sterling was off form for city too when he repped England in Euros and killed it

Shows how bad the league is that these guys starting for one of their best teams.
The league outside Olympia is real joke

Means they might just be off form... thought that came off pretty clear

if so then hajsafi has been off form for at least 3-4 years. Its not coming back any time soon as he gets older and older.

Milad was so bad he lost his seemingly secure spot on the left to noorafkan, and skocic seems to prefer even amiri on the left back spot to milad now.

With sterling you are mentioning a player who has a very high level in him but may be out of form, issue is neither of these two have such a level in them, or anything close to it.

Milad is the most surprising of these as he is young and was doing great until the move to Gent. He's only 28, so perhaps his career fortunes may still turn, but I agree he is the most expendable of the three.

Hajsafi is versatile and provides leadership in TM, and Karim obviously still has a place on the bench for the WC. I don't know how much longer after that though.

I have no idea what happened to Milad either?? He was so crucial for TM for so many years, and almost never had a bad game / made a mistake. He seemed to be doing fine in Russia? But now he has been horrible for TM for some time now... I wonder if it is all mental?

Milad is a left Wingback. Playing him as FB in 4 back setup is doing both him and his team a disservice.

Great point….doesn’t get talked about enough, there is a bigger difference between the LB and LWB position than some may realize and for Milad it definitely makes a difference

Interesting point about milad is that he actually improved a lot in belgium.

Technically he looked more refined, he was impacting the game offensively on a much more consistent basis (very healthy 5 assists last year and a goal of the month), and still looking solid on defensive end. And he has stern competition each year that he beat to take starting position. First year was the captain of the team and Ghana NT player Asare, second year was Gent's record signing Nurio Fortuna.

Still, even for TM towards the end of that time period he looked terrible. And now in greece his form in general, for club and country, has just totally gone of the window.

IMO, milad is one of those players that needs very strict coaching and lot of constant reminders, or else he is prone to doing stupid things. I think in AEK setup + new TM setup he doesnt have this constant feedback and that is one of the reasons for his decline. Also, he has always been a technically limited player who has relied on being aggressive, physical, and having great speed on both offensive and defensive ends to be effective. Not sure if maybe he has lost a step or two (he is not old at 28 but players age differently), but he doesn't seem as rapid as before. Since other parts of his game cannot compensate (IQ, technique, natural crossing ability, etc), he is getting exposed more and more.

Noorafkan is currently a way more complete player, and that says a lot because just 2 years ago if anybody said that they would be laughed at, such was milads physicality and defensive presence / continuity in europe. Having said that, noorafkan also looks fairly suspect defensively, gives away dumb fouls, and do not really think he has come up against any really dangerous wing opponent thus far.

AEK plays PAOK today, should be an interesting game.

Greece league is so bad and aek the worst enemies of TM it seems. How can they play milmo, hajsafi et shojaei (at his time) so much and be 2nd or 3rd?

                              Terrible league.

Level of play is worse than Iran. They just have better stadiums and training facilities.
