Taremi among top 100 football players of Europe
Tehran, IRNA – Iranian football player Mehdi Taremi has been crowned one of the 100 best football players of the 2021/22 season in Europe.
Marca, a Spanish national daily sports newspaper owned by Unidad Editorial, announced on Thursday that the result of surveys among football experts shows the 2021/22 MARCA 100 players and was published on June 30.
The Spanish daily introduced the best 100 players of last season in European leagues, reporting that Taremi, the Iranian national team football player and international striker in Portugal’s FC Porto, is among the top players of the green continent.
The 29-year-old football player has shown a stunning performance, especially when it came to playing for FC Porto, so he ranked 96th in the last season of the European leagues.
It is worth mentioning that Cristiano Ronaldo and Leonel Messi were graded as 21st and 26th respectively on the list.
Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, and Vinicius Jr. all three from Real Madrid stood first to third on the list of the newspaper.
Mo Salah from Liverpool, Kylian Mbappe from PSG, Luka Modric from Real Madrid, Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City, Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich, Virgil van Dijk from Liverpool, and Sadio Mane from Liverpool stood fourth to tenth on the list.
In total, 73 judges were assembled and each chose their 50 best players from the 2021/22 season, from a pre-established 100-player shortlist. The players in contention had to have played in Europe, without their nationality coming into play.
Each judge ordered their players from 1-50, with No.1 being the best in their eyes and picking up the most points, and those points awarded reduced all the way down to No.50.

Porto seems intent on making as much money as they can based on their great season. However, Taremi is getting the short end of the stick. There is no doubt that without his incredible season they would not have any titles. The players they are selling are all getting fantastic salary increases on their new teams whereas Taremi gets nothing other than looking at a greatly weakened team going into the upcoming season. On Twitter people are wishing Mbemba good luck since he is apparently not renewing his contract. I cannot imagine Taremi will be arriving at the world cup with much swagger. I hope he does not get hurt trying to make up for all of the missing pieces. They may be forced to start Martinez and pull Taremi back to the midfield. Have we heard of them signing up any new players?Comment
