Yes but also let's not forget the King Ali Daei who brought him for the first time to Perspolis.

Taremi is fulfilling what its history promised

Striker Taremi is already the player with the highest participation in FC Porto's goals: 60% of the last ten have passed him

If it was FC Porto's goal, it is highly likely that Mehdi Taremi was responsible: this phrase represents an increasingly strong trend in recent times, particularly since the Iranian assumed himself as a starter.

In Faro, the striker reached the tenth goal of the season and had already contributed to another seven, through four penalties suffered (converted by a teammate) and three passes to successful submissions. Numbers that make Taremi the second best scorer of the team, with two goals less than Sérgio Oliveira, but the most influential, reversing the position with the midfielder, who participated in 16 goals: 12 accurate shots and four assists.

In a way, it can be said that Taremi is fulfilling what his record promised. For the sixth consecutive season, the 28-year-old striker reached the mark of ten goals. From promising to certainty, there was a space that Sérgio Conceição deemed necessary for the striker to adapt to a new way of playing. Recently, the coach even admitted that Taremi was "a little sadder" in this transition phase, but the truth is that the bet is having a high return. Taremi fixes himself in the beginning of December, in the reception to Tondela for the championship and, from then on, he added ten games in this condition - in the middle, he stayed on the bench in the trip to Olympiacos and made the last five minutes in the visit of the Paços de Ferreira to Dragão, for the League Cup.

In these ten matches, only one (Moreirense) had goals without any participation by the Iranian international. In the others, Taremi scored, watched or suffered a penalty. In other words, and to summarize, the number 9 of the dragons had an influence on 60% of the last ten goals of the team.

Once Taremi's position is consolidated, other expectations remain (and increase ...): how far can it go? For now, it is safe to say that he overcame what he did last season, with Rio Ave. It is true that, after the same 23 games he has now, Taremi also scored ten goals, but this time he collected them with less time of use. Much less, the equivalent, roughly, of five and a half games: 1616 minutes last season, 1134 in the current one.

On the other hand, if we apply this comparison to the other forwards of the Conceição era, only Vincent Aboubakar did better: the Cameroonian reached his 23rd game of 2017/18 with 21 goals scored and influence in five others. Marega, at that time and the following, left a mark in 18 goals, practically the same as Taremi now, but with more minutes of use.

If we look only at the goals - excluding the assists and penalties he won - that Taremi scored this season, we realize that these "turned" into seven points in the championship for FC Porto. He scored one in the triumph (4-3) over Tondela, scored twice in Guimarães (2-3) and signed the only goal of the match against Farense. In the middle, he still scored again at the Beira, who lost 2-1 in the game counting for the Portuguese Cup. In other words, the former Rio Ave striker was also decisive for the triumph. All this happened in the last month and a half after the Iranian won a place in the eleven of Sérgio Conceição. Therefore, the use of Taremi in the Champions League was sporadic. He accumulated just 27 minutes, spread over three games [Manchester City, England, and both with Marseille] and has yet to score. The two games with Juventus are approaching, from the round of 16, and Mehdi's status is now different, as well as the form he has shown.

Got an upgrade from 10 to 12 million market value. I can see him cracking the 20 million mark by the end of the season if he continues his excellent form.

He's now the 8th most valuable player in the Porto Squad. 24th in Liga NOS.

Mehdi makes the Goal Point Team of the Month:

Mehdi Taremi (Porto) 6.86 - Second consecutive presence of the FC Porto striker, who in December was the Player of the Month. In January, there were three more goals for the personal account, having been the best scorer of this phase - and he also made an assist, so he contributed 57.1% of the goals of the “dragon” in this period, counting the goals scored by the team as the striker was in the field. Ball actions in the opponent's area were 22, second highest among strikers, and only Bruno Costa (Paços de Ferreira) and Ricardo Horta (Braga) recorded as many shots (12) as the Iranian. A player with a tremendous influence on Porto football.

Pretty sure if he didnt get that red card he would have a higher score than Quaresma.

Regardless, he is doing amazing, hope he gets a goal or two today!
