I dont agree at all with your take on this game.

Milad was one of their best players and in the first half he served up 3 or 4 passes right to the feet of the attackers who couldn't control the ball well.

He also covered really well on defense.

everything went downhill for gent when yaremchuk half asses his penalty attempt and proceeded to be absolute shit afterwards.


I still blame the coach for leaving their best midfielders on the bench. He saw how wrong he was and brought on Odjija later but it was too late.

Yeah BL jan Im not sure if you are expecting roberto carlos on offense or? Milad in the first half was a constant outlet, skinning his guy a couple times, only lost possession once and that led to the goal (although it happened 60+ yards from goal and the entire team got back before mix up in box leading to PK). His crosses were accurate, especially lowballs.

On defensive end he didnt really put a foot wrong. Multiple interceptions and always tight to his man. Was marking some dangerous wingers in robert skov (danish international) and also powerful Cf ilyas bebou floating out to his side at times. Nurio playing At LCB really struggled defensively and was twisted all sorts of ways by hoffenheim guys.

First half gent were quite solid in all aspects, missing final ball/goal. Some of those low crosses milad gave would have been goals last year with in form yaremchuk and the excellent jonathan david. Replacements cant control the ball even let alone turn and shoot it. Second half they seemed to just give up and collapse mentally. Hoffenheim scored some crazy goals too from range.

then nearly scoring himself a couple times at the end, and getting full 90 again. I think he has cemented place in team. Now they have to put some wins together in league. The team itself besides the wingers is the same as last season, with upgraded personnel in defense and midfield if anything. But their lack of confidence is really hurting them in both boxes right now.

So far in milads EL games vs st ettiene, roma, hoffenheim he showed himself to be at the level required, and was able to cause all of these sides problems with his offensive play and also solid defensive contributions

missed the opening 25-30 minutes or so but watched the entire rest..! he was hesitant and stand-offish to do anything of note most all game, at least so, until late on after going down 3-0..!!
i agree their coach fked up not starting that dude he brought off the bench in the MF in 2nd half... before that they were toothless completely down the middle but for his part Milad looked tired and scared to get more involved in the match and (be ghole eeengilisia Get Stuck-in), mostly hugging the touch-line, mostly hiding behind defender on attack so it was hard to get him involved in any sort of giveNgo and transition play and on defense not committing himself to high press of his teammates up-top which looked to bother Hoffenhiem often giving himself some 5 yards defensive cushion against their Rwinger (a la Beitashour) and although their right back often give him space to attack he seemed hesitant to expose him easily with his good pace..!

two Excellent through balls put him 1v1 with a keeper ... rushed the shitt outa the first skying it way wide, missed the even a better ball on the 1V1 by hitting the post..!! Score those and they woulda snatched themselves a very unlikely 3-3 draw.... be it undeserved..!!

he got full 90 probably because they didnt have any other options on the bench ? Norio was playing LB and if were coach i certainly woulda swapped their roles @ a very least..!!

has as many assists in 8 matches this season than in all of last year now with 2. And thats with being in and out of team in the first few weeks, changing coach 3x, and Gent being in horrific form.

If he cant hit 6-7 by the end of the year that would be super impressive and definitely indicative of improving production in final third.

IMHO is Odjija and Owusu arent in the midfield the team is an entire level below.

Those two absolutely need to be in the starting lineup and the third midfielder is looking like its going to be dorsch.

Milad with a confident and composed performance today.

Bolat also looking good. Really hoping they can win or at least draw at red star belgrade in europa, it's not too late for them to turn around their form!

its not. They are still a good team even if they lost jonathan david. Yaremchuk showed he is still a beast with hattrick tonight, need him firing. Milad and Castro Montes are no showing the form that got them interest from leeds/sevilla respectively. Owusu as you mention is super key and atletico madrid were even scouting him as partey replacement, and odjidja is the leader of the team. Red star is a super hard game and gent will need a big performance but on paper their team can do it. Looking on twitter a lot of their fans are shouting out milad again, saying that he cemented his place as #1 LB at the club. It seems coaching staff fully agrees too, nurio even for his hefty fee is now his backup or an option as a 3rd cb in a back 5.
