I must say azmoun from physical point of view is superb. His speed, acceleration, physical strength to hold off defenders, body positioning, and linkup was all first class tonight. The composure to tee the pass up for driussi showed his awareness and football IQ.

The only chance in the game I think he could have done better was the ball passed in on his left side and his touch was a bit heavy and cb made a great tackle on his shot.

People laughed when I said for CL the guy needs to sit his ass on the bench. But the reality is he is a piece of wood now. Even for Russian NT fans are calling for him to be replaced with Spartak's young striker Sobolev (giant like dzyuba but 10 years younger and with real speed).

He added nothing to game today, destroyed countless attacks, and was flat footed in every key situation.

yes. This zenit team has played 2-3 levels lower than their real level bc of semak. Its like lazy coaching. Constant long balls to dzyuba might work in RPL but everybody knows it wont work in CL. And it wouldnt cost zenit league if they experiment more tactically and try more modern approaches, they would still win and be ready to do something in CL. Semak persists with same old, no variablity, and today it got exposed horribly.

Sardar should definitely move to a top tier league in Europe. He has the physique, discipline, skills, creativity, speed, language skills among many others. He will be 26 on January 1st. Zenit has definitely contributed to his growth and development but he is now ready for a higher level and he is not going to grow at Zenit any more. If there is interest from the right club, he should go in the winter otherwise definitely in the summer.

I thought Azmoun was great today. The midfield and defense however were horrendous.

Zenit was outclassed in the midfield last season but let’s not forget they did beat lyon and benfica.

They were good in certain games and poor in others last time around.


Today was way worse than any performance in CL last year. The entire team looked exhausted and uncoordinated besides azmoun.
