Update on Hajisafi's potential move back to Greece:

"The two sides have found each other for a contract close to 200 thousand euros, with Hadjisafi informing that next week he will talk to the president of Traktor Sassi (with whom, according to the report, he also has friendly relations) to be released and to sign on Mars."

      https://www.sportime.gr/aris-fc/aris...se-chatzisafi/

"The old friend and former player of Panionios and Olympiakos, Ehsan Hadjisafi, was proposed to Aris - as revealed by SDNA on July 20 - and is on an open line with the team of Thessaloniki.

In fact, according to well-informed SDNA sources, there is an agreement in principle between the two sides for cooperation between them.

The 30-year-old defender and the team from Thessaloniki have found an oral level for their common course with the player's side, however, putting an… asterisk to complete the transfer.

What does this D. asterisk include?

Not the "damn freedom" and the release of Hadjisafi from Tractor Sazi a year before the expiration of his contract, since this parameter is not an obstacle according to the player.

Hadjisafi and his representative Reza Fazeli are waiting for the lifting of the ban imposed by FIFA on Mars, so that they can go to the next stage and record in writing and with signatures everything that has been agreed orally with the Thessalonians.

Given that the "yellows" are - apparently - a matter of time to get rid of the ban that binds their transfer hands, Hadjisafi is holding a waiting position having otherwise arranged all the details of returning to Greece on behalf of Mars."

Well he has been in great form for tractor. Surprised he really wants to go some midtable Greek team but thessaloniki is very beautiful and this is probably his last chance to play a couple seasons in europe (age 30) before coming back to PGPL maybe for a final couple seasons.

Anyways, his reputation in greece is quite solid from panionios and even olympiakos days. He was displaced at LB in olympiakos by a very promising youngster tsimikas who half of europe is chasing now so there is no shame in that.

Ive never been a big fan of his TM but given our issues at CM and backup LB he is still a serviceable member of our squad, brings good experience. From the Karim, Shojaei, Dejagah, Hajsafi, Ebrahimi axis of experienced players him and Ebrahimi are the only ones capable of making it to next WC. Omid will be 34 but still physically a tank and even if from bench a great presence to have. Hajsafi will be 32 then, so probably still able to contribute in some way.

              i agree
but ehsan started way early and man's got a ton of miles on him....!! doubtful to me, he'd be able to play anymore than another season or 2..??
i guess he is in good form currently and its nice to see him still having EU ambitions .... but in all honesty, i'd be disappointed if we make WC22 and still had to rely on him.... especially as a starter..!!
i suppose we've always had a sever shortage of left sided tm talents and he is experienced AF and adaptable to multiple positions if need be, which would make his chances of playing at WC22 still quiet high..!!?

Eshan will always be polarizing for TM fans because he is inconsistent.

But to my recollection when he was playing in greece he was actually doing very well for TM as a central midfielder.

A good example of his proper usage is our game against algeria, and he played LCM many other times around that time period successfully.

We currently just lack any better replacement to just write off hajsafi who is at least a decent and experienced CM.

He isnt super special but he can keep the ball moving well at a good tempo and support the attack well.

Paykan's Shahriar Moghanlou linked with Liga Nos side Santa Clara:

"Iran's top scorer in the sights of Santa Clara

Shahriar Moghanlou is the name of the top scorer in the Iranian league: the 25-year-old striker for Paykan FC made headlines in national sports newspapers as a possible reinforcement for Santa Clara."

Yaaaaassssss!!! Good player, very good player! He will do well, if he goes to Santa Clara!

Santa Clara's SAD gives 170 thousand euros for Shahriar Moghanlou
That is pretty good money Paykan are getting! BTW, does anyone know his agent? That a very, very good deal he's getting moving from a relegation side team in Iran to 9th placed Santa Clara in Portugal.

Well, santa clara thinks that if he can get those thats in a relegeation threatened team in Iran then what would he get if he actually played in a decent club with good players around him?

He has terrible positioning as a LB, which never seems to get better. I don't understand why he keeps getting forced into playing LB, he is clearly a midfielder. Overall Hajsafi is decent or pretty good everywhere, but not superb in any attribute. Still very useful for us to have in TM, hope to see him go back to Greece!

This is so awesome! Portugal is starting to realize the Iranian market's potential. Hopefully this becomes a trend

Excellent news. More so because of the proof that portuguese clubs are highly interested in the iranian market, picking up deals and making huge profits. Its also a win win, While $150,000 is pennies for a player of moghanlou's ability, age, and track record, for iranian clubs like peykan (and really for iran in general) that is a lot of money that can help clubs become financially sustainable.

Moghanlou is a real old fashioned 9. As in a real target man. He also has excellent free kick taking abilities. One thing I noticed for any offensive players going to europe is that a strong set piece taking ability can be a key asset. Often on crappy teams set piece opportunities are of heightened importance and the coaches see the direct beenfit of including strong set piece takers in team immediately, which allows them to show themselves + get confidence up fast. As we saw with mehrdad FKs + corners, Taremi's PKs.

I think he would do very well in portugal. Just need some mids/defenders to get there now.

I’d do anything to see more of our CMs and CBs in Europe - if we do that, we will have a full European based team more or less.
