TM needs to shed this skin. In conclusion Roshan knows more football than you and you are even more audacious for questioning his knowledge and expertise.
If you knew EVEN ONE THING about football, you'd understand that a good coach knows how to pick the best players for his style of play / strategy, and that's exactly what CQ did, which is why he, undeniably despite your delusion, produced the best results and most successful world cup campaigns in TM's history.

Who the heck is Hassan Roshan to comment on this? Just because he was a good player (for iranian standards, nobody else has ever heard of him), doesn't mean he knows tactics and coaching properly. He's just another jealous clown, like all those old school iranian players / coaches that are jealous of CQ's success and the fact that he's achieved more with Iran than all of them combined.

Wimots was always gonna be a disaster.

One bad spell? okay maybe due to back luck. TWO? okay maybe we should start asking questions...THREE? I'm sorry, find the common denominator.

This is the guy under whom a super-talented Belgium side was more toothless and importent than Aqa khan-qajar in a WC quarterfinal vs. Argentina. Legit, Iran with super defensive tactics created more chances vs. Argies in that World Cup than Belgium with all their stars.

Then 2 years ago, he manages this golden generation team to not only lose, but be dominated and comprehensively beaten by WALES of all teams...when free agent and clubless bum like Robsun-Kanou looks like prime Brazilian Ronaldo against Belgium.

Then takes over the African Champions and manages the feet of failing to qualify to a WC with them for the first time in 12 years.

I have no idea what IFF was thinking offering him the job. Nothing adds up....except that he's "Khareji".

It's like Liverpool parting ways with Klopp in 2022 and going in and appoint Mark Hughes as his successor.

Cut our losses before it's too late. We can still salvage this with 3 home games left. But we'll need MINIMUM 10 points, possibly all 12 to qualify. Easier said than done, especially when you just know Iraqis WOULD LOVE to spoil the party and make us cry in that serious do-or-die match at Azadi in June.

        I forgot to add,
The iraqi players had fire n tem, to win the game.
        our players simply didnt!
over confidence perhaps. too lax, maybe?
whatever, but they really didnt look like they're fired up.

I'm starting to think that the players simply found out that Wilmots is a clueless manager, so they have no reason to be motivated and perform. After all our team mentality has always been a major issues and CQ has adressed this constantly, he was on top of everything and made sure players would give their all for TM. Now it looks like the players simply don't feel the urge to perform, because of their bad manager. This is the nature of group dynamics!

I mean seriously, how on earth can Wilmots ignore players like Alireza Jahanbakhsh, Gholizadeh, Kaveh Rezai for such an crucial game and start 35 years old Masoud who hadn't a good game since 2011 or something (he was never a constantly good player at all)?
Obviosly the future will be very dark with Wilmots in charge.

Who will want to coach us if we dont have a meaningful fixture until AC 2023???

Lets get some perspective here. We've lost away fixtures against nations, that Iran traditionally has had a hard time beating, even under CQ. Except for the pounding we gave Bahrain in 2011, we escaped with a draw in the dying minutes of extra time in Manama back then.
I dont think Wilmots has been a catastrophe for Iran, its waaaay to early to claim that.

The difference between CQ and Wilmots among other things is CQ's first priority was to win and go to WC this guy his first priority is money and getting paid on time.

We are on the verge of not qualifying for the WC after 2 straight losses. Both of which we as layman football enthusiasts could clear as day see were tactical disasters. From his choice of call-ups, starting line-ups, subs, positioning, training, everything has been sub par and a disgrace. Then after everything he blames it on "bad luck". Seems as if he doesn't care about the Iranian people the way CQ did. He just cares about a paycheck and thats it.

It may be too early for a complete catastrophe, but we are sure as hell almost there. I think its best to rectify this before it gets there.

Ask yourself what self-respecting coach (no matter their level of coaching is) would accept such a pre-hiring condition ????
absolutely nobody but a Pure Mercenary Coach who's Only motivation is his paycheck and nothing more..!!

As much as I would like to play into conspiracies, I dont think thats the case here.

What is apparent is the incompetence of the manager.

Don't blame Wilmots. He is doing the best he can with a bunch of players who aren't great. We have over-achieved over the last 8 years for the talent we have got. Now we are returning to the true level of our players' skill. And the reason why we are not generating more talented players lies with the problems of our development and nurturing the grassroots - something Kia is doing his best to change from bottom up.

In terms of our current situation, don't blame Wilmots (the scapegoat) but blame this culture of Namak NashnAssi - attacking a coach who did so fking much for us (Queiroz) - still happening by some members on this forum after the match.... Blame "team mellieh mannnneeehhhh"

Either people who don't appreciate what they've got or people who change their tune for political reasons

Who else are we supposed to blame when old heads are in our starting line-up and goal thirsty legionnaires are sitting on the bench?

can someone tell me how many test games we've had since the beginning of the WCQ's (or Wilmot's tenure)?

This is not in defense of him. I just want to know so I can see whether he's had enough time to work with & test our lads

How much time does it take to realize that a 35 year old man needs to sit his old ass on the bench, a 20 year old IPL player should not start before a Belgian goal scoring legionnaire, and tried and true players like ARJ need to be called up regardless of what is going on in their club?
