if we lose in IRQ and win the last 4 games we will be first if IRQ and BAH ends in a tie
if IRQ wins against BAH, then IRN/IRQ tiebreakers or GD
If BAH wins against IRQ we'll be the runner up

at least a draw in Iraq is very important

we'll be lucky to get a draw in Basra
if iraq scores first, we can say goodbye

there will be 65000 fans in Basra!

            Sounds quite possible.

Sadly Team Melli struggles against Arab teams from the Persian Gulf region likes of Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, KSA and UAE.

However keep in mind that Bahrain and Iraq struggle against likes of Hong Kong and Cambodia. When Bahrain and Iraq defeat those teams is not with a super huge margin like when our team wins against them.

Iraq defeated Cambodia 4:0 in Phnom Penh and Hong Kong 2:0 in Basra.

Bahrain defeated Cambodia 1:0 Phnom Penh.

At best Bahrain might defeat Cambodia 3:0 in Riffa and Iraq probably wins Cambodia 5:0 or 6:0 in Basra. Also most likely Bahrain will win Hong Kong narrowly in HK and in Riffa probably 2:0.

In Tehran, Team Melli on the other hand can win big against Bahrain something like 2:0 or 3:0, probably 1:0 win over Iraq and big wins over HK and Cambodia as well.

So Team Melli's next match in Basra is crucial, a draw would be a good result.

The thought that we may not make it out of the group stage is INSANE ....
Will Ghoddos be available in Nov?
We really need the likes of Gholi / Ghoddos / ashkan

                  Hong Kong (A)
                  Iraq (A)
                  Cambodia (H)
                  Iran (A)

                  Bahrain (H)

                  Bahrain (H)
                  Iraq (H)
If Bahrain, Iran and Iraq manage to win alle their games against Hong Kong and Cambodia.
                  Bahrain 7p + 9p = 16p
                  Iraq 6p + 6p = 12p
                  Iran 6p + 6p = 12p
                  and then you have
                  IRQ – IRI
                  IRQ – BAH
                  IRI – BAH
                  IRI – IRQ
3 wins out of the game above for Iran
–––> 100% qualification to next round
a draw against iraq and two wins at home
–––> 100% qualification to next round if IRQ – BAH ends in a draw
any other results leads to major AGAR O AMA
so we need at least a draw in Iraq and lets hope for a IRQ – BAH draw
the 4 best teams out of all group will advance too. and i guess that Qatar will become first or second in their group. so Iran has to be better than at least 3 other second placed teams. chances are good. but Iran is not allowed to lose any other game or tie more than two.

What you are saying is we are back to JAADOO VA JAMBAL .. something we didn't have to deal with for 8 years.

We probably have to finish 1st to qualify! I have a hard time seeing the 2nd team from this group qualify.
Next game is decisive. A loss in Basra and we can kiss the WC goodbye.

We should be fine if we finish 2nd. Qatar will most likely top their group which means the fifth best runner up will advance to the next round as well.

Having said that, it's no guarantee we will even finish second. Just imagine the pressure if we lose against Iraq!

I said this after the draw, but Bahrain is best pot 3 team and arguably should have been in pot 2.

With that said, our best hope is if Hong Kong can pull an upset and beat Bahrain. That of course would mean we would have to beat Bahrain in Tehran, and somehow come out with 4 points or more against Iraq in two of our matches.

Finishing 2nd in this group is risky.

Bahrain will win Hong Kong. Hong Kong is not good like cambodia. After all we had to keep Carlos Quriouz

If we lose Iraq they must sent home Wilmots and we need to bring back Carlos Quriouz before it is to late! We had to keeped Carlos Qurioz the best team and orgabisarion and players he had. Best ever World Cup 2018 in History for Iran.

Wilmots could also not Qualify with Senegal to World Cup

We don't win often against Iraq recently, home, away or neutral venues. I expected us to lose some points against Iraq (not a loss again Bahrain).
