    TM New Records & Research Thread

    Hi guys,

    I'm opening this thread to post new records for TM and also for everyone else to post new records and also give all of us a chance to research and verify those records.

    Sorry, I hadn't opened a new thread for a while... I really like records and stats so I thought this would be a good way to get back into it.

    I'll get right into it with one confirmed record set yesterday and one that needs verification (i.e. research and help from everyone).

          Also Iran vs Cambodia is perhaps the match with most number of Female spectators in Azadi Stadium. Is it?

              With all the crappy teams that have sprouted around in Asia (and the heavy defeats that have accompanied them) this record may have been broken but I believe our fastest hatrick goes to Ali Jabbari who scored 3 goals in 8 minutes (80, 86 and 88th minute) against Thailand in the 1972 Asian Championship to turn a 2-0 loss into a 3-2 win.
              I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

                    I doubt it that back then our females were hardcore sport fans unless visiting teams' female fans were many. Present day has more female sport fans.

                      Team Melli has never defeated Bahrain in their home turf with 2 losses and 2 draws!!! So disappointing, I truly hope that Team Melli makes history tonight by defeating Bahrain in Riffa.

                      Only two players have scored for Team Melli in Bahrain's home turf: Ali Daei scored in 2001 and Mojtaba Jabbari's 93 minute injury time goal in 2011!!! Again very disappointing!!!

                      Past encounters between Bahrain and Team Melli in Bahrain.

                      19.10.2001 Bahrain vs Iran 3:1 ,2002 WCQ, Venue: National Stadium, Manama. Team Melli Head Coach was Miroslav Blazevic.

                      09.02.2005 Bahrain vs Iran 0:0, 2006 WCQ, Venue: Manama. Team Melli Head Coach was Branko Ivankovic.

                      21.03.2008 Bahrain vs Iran 1:0, Friendly match on Nowrooz, Venue: National Stadium, Manama. Team Melli Head Coach was Ali Daei.

                      11.11.2011 Bahrain vs Iran 1:1, 2014 WCQ, Venue: National Stadium, Riffa. Team Melli Head Coach was Carlos Queiroz.

                          Iraq has never defeated Team Melli in Iraq.

                          Team Melli only had two encounters with Iraq in Baghdad, a win and a draw.

                          03.01.1964 Iraq vs Iran 0:0, 1964 OGQ, Venue: Sahat Al Kashafa , Baghdad. Team Melli Head Coach: Hossein Fekri.
                          07.09.2001 Iraq vs Iran 1:2, 2002 WCQ, Venue: Al Shaab Stadium, Baghdad. Team Melli Head Coach: Miroslav Blazevic.

                          Iraq has never defeated Iran by more than one goal, where as Iran's biggest win over Iraq was 4:0 on 12 December 1963 in Amjadiyeh Stadium Tehran in a 1964 Olympic Games Qualifier.

                          However, Iraq is a team that has defeated Iran 3 times in Tehran!!!

                          3 June 1962 Iran vs Iraq 1:2, Friendly game in Amjadieh Stadium, Tehran. Team Melli Head Coach: Hossein Fekri.
                          13 August 2003 Iran vs Iraq 0:1, 2003 LG Cup in Azadi Stadium, Tehran. Team Melli Head Coach: Homayoun Shahroukhi.
                          18 March 2017 Iran vs Iraq 0:1, Friendly match behind closed doors in Azadi Stadium, Tehran. Team Melli Head Coach: Carlos Queiroz.

                          Iraq also defeated Iran twice in neutral venues, 2:1 win in 1994 WCQ and 2:1 win in 1996 Asia Cup. Also Iraq eliminated Iran on penalties at the 2015 Asia Cup in Canberra Australia.

                            Iran had always completed the First Stage of World Cup Qualifications undefeated or with one loss.

                            1978, 1994, 1998, 2002, 2010, 2014 & 2018 - Undefeated at the first stage of qualification;
                            1974, 1990, 2006 with one defeat at the first stage of qualification;

                            The worst ever World Cup Qualification campaign for Iran was 1990 when Team Melli got eliminated at the completion of the first stage.

                            As of yesterday, a new record for Iran, defeated in 2 matches with still many remaining matches next year.
                            15 Oct 2019 Iran lost to Bahrain 1:0 in Bahrain;
                            14 Nov 2019 Iran lost to Iraq 2:1 in Jordan;

                              I dont know if this belongs here but during the game against Iraq, I guess it was first time Iran did not have a single Corner kick
