Meant to add the other day that he nearly got another clean sheet away at Famalicao but they equalised in injury time.

Amir has been named in the January Liga Nos Team of the Month by Portuguese sports website:

"Amir in the 'eleven' of the month of January of the website 'GoalPoint.pt'

Marítimo goalkeeper Amir Abedzadeh sets the best eleven of the month of January 2020, in the NOS League, according to the GoalPoint website.

“José Gomes' arrival brought a much greater stability to Marítimo, and the Iranian Amir has also contributed to this. In January he conceded just two goals and was the goalkeeper who added the most defenses in each game (4,5). All in all, 90% of the shots were defended in the last four games. An impressive brand ”, says the website.

GoalPoint.pt has an algorithm that measures / evaluates the individual performance of each player in a given match, awarding points that will culminate in the ideal 'eleven' of each day and each month.

It should also be noted that the goalkeeper was also the best in his position in the game regarding the 18th round. The match against Sporting CP earned him the spot in the goal of the eleven of that journey to the same site."

His clean sheet percentage is the fourth best in the league. 6 clean sheets in 16 games.
In his last 8 Games he has conceded just 4 goals, and 6 of the games were against teams higher in the league than them and he has faced a lot of shots.

It's not for no reason. He's inconsistent and has a tendency to take some unnecessary risks which lead to goals. One good month isn't a fair sample. He's a decent 3rd option for Team Melli though.

Also it could be seen on the other hand that he is starting to get a regular run of games probably for the first time in his career. As you say, only time will tell. It seems to be that most the modern goalkeepers take these unnecessary risks due to the style of football with being played out from the back.
The one main thing I think goes against him is his height but he seems to be a good shot stopper and fair play to him, he’s nearly 27 and has to wait a long time for his chance.

As someone who follows his game weekly and closely, you got to respect his tremendous hunger to succeed. The second half of the season will decide if he can keep his performances consistent and move to a better club where he can really grow more. I think he can eventually unseat Beiranvand from the TM starting position if the latter doesn't move to Europe soon. But if Beiranvand really goes to Antwerp, Abedzadeh will probably stay third choice GK at best.
