Interesting article from Varzesh3 claiming that Taremi asked and got a transfer clause in his contract with Rio Ave stating that 45% of the transfer fee will go to him https://www.varzesh3.com/news/166538...ل-ایران . If true, he was really smart to do this. It actually makes sense since he got a significant pay cut when he moved from Qatar to Portugal. Carvalhal (Rio Ave's HC) has said more than once that Mehdi took a major pay cut to move to Europe. It also shows that he has a financial incentive to do well and that's perfectly ok and its actually expected from a professional player as long as it is not the only motivation. This guy is a late bloomer but he keeps learning and moving forward. Remember the fiasco with Turkey's Rizespor that got him and Persepolis a 6 month suspension and he had to pay PP around $100K. What a long way he has come.

    Go Mehdi!

Unpopular opinion: Maybe Taremi should just take the Aston Villa offer...

I agree. If hes not going to Benefica (based off of PSGmans post, it doesnt look like it) then I would say Aston Villa would be a good choice. The EPL has been getting a lot more attention than any other league as of lately.

Dean Smith was a pundit for a game over the weekend (can’t remember which) and he said that he is looking for a striker with Premier League experience. However, it is widely known that their sporting director Suso is the one who calls the shots when it comes to transfers.

EPL is exciting for all players simply cause the salaries for even average players is quite high.
Not sure if Taremi can get transferred to a mega team in Portugal because Portugal has some of the most shady agents in European football (along with Italian ones).

Definitely, just use the Shoya Nakajima case as an example. That is the pure definition of dalal bazi. Some these are shadier than Iranian transfers!

The “big 3” are playing games, if they want Taremi they are most likely going to make him sign for a Qatar club like Nakajima so they can him as cheap as possible (not saying that will be the case but it’s quite alarming when Sporting says Taremi is “expensive”.)

Ligue 1 is the lowest scoring of the top 5 leagues, not good for attacking football. Nature of the clubs would be the worst for someone like Taremi.

Current bundesliga is best suited for him, but Portugal is good too if it is Porto, Benfica or Sporting

indeed, that league is full of narekhar africans who could run all day and mix it up physically all game but offer little else in terms of technical nor tactical qualities...!! i dont think it would be a well-suited league for Mehdi either and boy its boring to watch and hard to find english commentaried links for..!
if AV interest is serious enough, mehdi would be a fool not to jump on the chance..! he is already 28 and very unlikely to be getting serious interest from arguably the best? /certainly the most competitive league in the world.
besides he is most likely to make bank from that move and even if he fails or the team relegates and he performs admirably, a similarly high profile EU team would come after him on the ensuing fire sale .... worst case play in Championship with AV.... which is still a top quality league..!!
the shitt things about AV move is the shitty fan culture , tokhmy weather , and the tough fight and uphill climb to establish yourself as a starter in almost any EPL team which are likely stacked with multiple player option at every position on the pitch..!

I can imagine Ghasem missing a sitter in a crucial game that ends up getting Aston Villa relegated and with those fans it wouldn’t look pretty😂
