Seems that FC Porto have to raise funds through the selling of Diogo Leite and Tomás Esteves to Valencia before they can make their offer for Taremi, Porto estimate gaining around €30 million from this transfer deal. This may take awhile (a couple of weeks most likely) and Taremi is still in Iran.
Is ok he is in Iran the transfer deadline is in October any ways

So the reason Taremi is still in Iran has to do with NT call up in regards to our match (friendly) against Syria and Uzbekistan.

It is also said/rumored that Dragan Skočić will call up his first Team Melli squad list next week.

A BOLA confirm that taremi has chosen porto and is waiting for rio ave to finalize deal with them.

In unrelated news Cavani+Venrthongen+Everton Cebolinha have joined benfica. It will be quite the battle next year for league, with resurgent benfica and return of their legendary coach Jorge Jesus, Carvahal's exciting braga team, Sporting new young stars, and hopefully Mehdi's Porto.

actually benfica's big unveiling of everton+vernthongen today and cavani last week may speed up porto/rio ave agreement for taremi as they may want to make PR splash as well to calm their fans.

In order to respond to Benfica signing Cavani, Everton and Vertonghien, Porto wants to sign Taremi. Tit for tat.

                What a world.

Damn, what a team Benfica are building/have built!!! (Potentially Cavani too?) Really impressive! I know football is not played on paper, but Benfica are a force not reckon with. (Likely winning everything this season/trophies and dominating CL Football under the great Jorge Jesus.) Must be all that João Félix money coming to good use! Will be an interesting, fun, and exciting 2020/2021 Primeira Liga to watch with more Iranian players rumored to come like Moghanlou, Alipour, and maybe Reza Dehghani. Especially with Taremi potentially going to Porto for the upcoming season.

I was thinking the exact same. And they still technically have Vinicius and Pizzi too (although they may be offloaded to pay for the new signings). They're very stacked and could be a force in CL.

Yes, I wonder how Sporting and Porto will respond?

I don't know about Sporting, however Porto are linked to a couple of very good players/talents besides Taremi such as: Toni Martínez, Zaidu Sanusi, Carraça, Rúben Semedo, and Pedro Gonçalves. (With some paper talk of Brahimi/Hulk coming in January transfer window)

                        Comment

I dont expect porto to make many "BIG" signings. Their star signing will probably be taremi. The LB from santa clara (moghanlou's rumored team) sanusi is like a cheap version of Alphonso Davies and would be a sick signing with many bundesliga and other clubs interested in him.

As One porto fan aptly put it, "it will Made in Olival vs Mega Spenders". Olival is porto's training base where many of their current stars were formed and are still on the team.

They still seem very confident and why not. They have a quality team that has continuity unlike Benfica's. With a few smart additions and just 1-2 sales (probably of younger academy players that are highly sought after and not in first team yet) they can remain very competitive and keep finances in check.

And this is from Abola on why Taremi chose porto...
"Taremi no longer runs away from FC Porto, as he seems to have the option taken to wear blue and white, a convergent decision with an understanding between FC Porto and Rio Ave, which is flourishing in the last hours.

The idea of playing for the national champion, being seen as the first option in attack, playing the Champions and living in Porto seduce and excite Taremi, and being an influential and decisive part in the course of his career, as he holds 40 percent of the pass.

Taremi is not interested in prolonging the impasse, he wants to embrace a new challenge without further delay, ignoring what SC Braga can try. Despite a platform of understanding between FC Porto and Rio Ave, there are numbers to get right, as the villagers do not favor the reception of players. The transfer should not fail and may be completed early next week."

From FC Porto's sub-reddit regarding Taremi:

This was the closest thing I found to an FC Porto forum (besides the sub-reddit), however, I do not see a Taremi thread there: https://www.fcporto.ws/forum/

Taremi's former Portuguese teammate from Al Gharafa, Diogo Amado, talks about Mehdi's move to Portugal and FC Porto:

"TAREMI HAS EVERYTHING TO WIN THE PLACE

Diogo Amado was the first Portuguese player to get to know Taremi up close, as a companion and member of the same fight. They played together for two seasons at Al-Gharafa, from Qatar, the club from which the Iranian international striker moved to Portugal in order to represent Rio Ave. And the relationship was even frankly positive with the tranquility of the Portuguese embracing serenity and the introverted way of the Iranian star. Amado, trained at Sporting, with an outstanding stint at Estoril in the League, who now left Qatar for Ajman, from the United Arab Emirates, is guessing Taremi's success at FC Porto, a transfer that is imminent.

«I see a good connection with him in the style of FC Porto, namely Sérgio Conceição, for the way FC Porto exploits the last third with high quality players that create imbalances. I speak of Taremi's intelligence in the last third with the movements he makes, which will provide very clear goal opportunities. Fitting in the scheme, you will have the opportunity to show your goal streak. He has all the conditions to arrive, win his place and take revenge, showing his football and his excellent characteristics », he explains, feeling that the Iranian lives the perfect context to test himself in another dimension.

«Regarding FC Porto, I think this is the right time for him. There was some indecision when he arrived, because he did not know the reality of Europe, much less of Portugal, there was fear that he would avenge himself. It was a time that came as a surprise to many, but it was also an affirmation with all the merit in the work he did. It is time to head to a great Portuguese, to show his qualities, to prove that nothing he did was in vain and that he is much stronger », declares the midfielder, aware of Taremi's arguments.

«If he managed to do what he did at Rio Ave, which is already a beautiful club, what will he do in a big, even better ring? He will fight for a place that he will almost certainly get, will show his class even more, with goals, with quality of play and the aggressiveness that has always accustomed us », needs the Portuguese midfielder, praising the success of the wedding with the villagers- condenses.

«I was not at all surprised by the hype he caused. When I heard that he was going to Rio Ave I was very happy and I told colleagues in Qatar that he was going to shine. He had a spectacular season in a team with positive football, a beautiful game and possession of a tremendous ball, which helped to highlight his characteristics. He likes to look for space and needs smart players around him. He integrates well anywhere, because he is a spectacular player ”, points out Amado, recalling the understanding that the Iranian had with the renowned Sneijder, who legitimizes him to be among the best:“ The Sneijder had a fantastic vision, he already knew to do before the ball reached him and took advantage of Taremi's movements. The Sneijder could even receive the square ball but put it round on the back of defense. Taremi, very smart, went for those balls, he was adept at such moves and defined in the face of the goalkeeper. Two players of tremendous quality, one in vision, one in movement. »"
