Here's one main reason Iranian players aren't as favorable as other Asian players for European clubs:
And this is just one revenue stream. There are also TV rights, sponsorships, other merchandising, tours, etc.
The fact is, these revenue streams make non-Iranian Asian players more palatable for European clubs and may help completely offset (or in some cases, even return a profit) for any transfer and wage fees.
Obviously, these revenue streams aren't possible for Iranian players. European clubs take on much more of a financial risk when signing our players since they don't have marketing revenue to mitigate risk.
This is all for a good Asian player, Wu Lei. Although he's good for Asian standards, he doesn't hold a candle to Sardar, for example, or the wealth of other talents we have playing in substandard leagues (Gholi, Saman, Delfi, Taremi, etc.).
Realistic Options:
Paul Le Guen, Michael Laudrup, Robero Donadoni, Peter Stoger, Juan Antonio Pizzi, and Branko Ivankovic. I would have been very happy with Slaven Bilic but unfortunately he is not available at the moment.
he is unlikely to accept!
I do not why some people waste time to talk about unrealistic choices. What makes some people to think that the likes of Mourinho, Zidane, Klinsmann, Blanc, etc. even bother themselves to read offer from us or any Asian team at the moment? Not only those coaches charge a lot, they are not near retirement either.
Again here are the realistic choices:
Paul Le Guen, Michael Laudrup, Robero Donadoni, Peter Stoger, Juan Antonio Pizzi, and Branko Ivankovic. I would have been very happy with Slaven Bilic but unfortunately he is not available at the moment.
If you have to pick one from these managers, who would you pick?
