I really hope crowds are allowed by then, but highly doubt it. Both Iraq and Bahrain games are in Tehran. Without those deafening crowds, Iran loses one of its advantages.

Any stadium where we dont have to hear Baathist chants or that olagh who sings in Arabic into his vuvuzuela is an advantage for us against Arab teams.

Hopefully we have our fans for the game but either way we should wreck these teams for their antics against us.

The only thing that can add a positive thought to this year, is TM qualifying for the WC.

New coach: Dragan Skočić, he's currently in Iran watching Iran league games with his staff.
Two friendlies in September against Uzbekistan and possibly Syria.
World Cup qualifiers against Cambodia, Hong Kong in October.
                        Bahrain and Iraq in November.

Looking at WC2022 qualification, it appears the magic number to qualify is 16 points, the last minute winner Iraq scored is haunting us badly at the moment. 16 points mean we must defeat hong kong, cambodia, and then either beat bahrain and draw Iraq or draw bahrain and beat Iraq. Iraq seems to have our number recently so It will be difficult to even get a draw against a motivated Iraq team that will be looking to eliminate their arch-rivals in an empty Azadi stadium.

I rewatched the highlights, and even though Iraq dominated both of their goals were due to iran clumsiness. Ebrahimi tripped over the ball on the first goal, and for the second goal we had nobody on the post (Saudi Arabia 2009 flashbacks) and for some reason Marc Dumbmots brought on Rezaei for Azmoun even though we should have been looking to seal the draw.

Regardless, looking ahead, we have major issues with the midfield, and Im not sure what direction is best to go in. Do we play to our strength and use a front 3 of Taremi-Azmoun-JB? Do we try Gholizadeh instead? Does Dejagah start? Who is anchoring the midfield, 2 of Ebrahimi, Nouroullahi, Hajsafi, Eza? Obviously we must go 1 game at a time but ultimately we are going to need a result against Iraq and Im really not sure our team will be up to the pressure. we perform good vs strong teams but we have always been trash against average teams. just wanted to rant.

As for the other thread discussing Taremi azmoun partnership, they came up pretty empty against bahrain and iraq. blame it on wilmots all you want but they simply werent good. Taremi plays CF for Rio Ave so I am not sure it is best to play them together anymore. something like this can work

                            Azmoun
                            Taremi/Gholi - Dejagah/Ghoddos - JB
                            Ebrahimi/Hajsafi - Nourollahi/Ezatolahi
                            MiMo--------Hosseini-------Pourali--------Moharrami
                            -------Biero-----

we couldnt complete two passes in those matches so Im not sure what that has to do with taremi and azmoun. they are still a deadly combo with great understanding, we saw that in AC. Karim's inclusion also badly fucked our front line under wilmots. The rest I agree with. Gholi is pushing ARJ for spot. Taremi plays CF bc rio are a weak team but he is even more interesting coming off left in my opinion, then the defenders really struggle to read his great runs becasuse it is not clear if CB or RB of opposition should pick him up.

Kaveh and Mehrdad can also be good options as subs, Kaveh to retain pressing intensity late on, mehrdad to provide speed, dribbling, and direct play+strong shooting, especially vs tired defences.

Kiarash, how agree are you with what Yahya Golmohammadi said after the appointment of Skocic? First he congratulated Skocic and wished him the best. Then he said the nationality of the coach should not matter at all. You can see that in the below link.

                                https://www.borna.news/%D8%A8%D8%AE%...A7%D8%B3%D8%AF

In a newspaper, he also said when It comes to choose the national team head coach, the nationality of the head coach should not matter at all. Other factors should be considered. He said the head coach of Iran can be Croatian, Portuguese, Brazilian, French, Iranian, or even Australian or Korean, or etc. He mentioned that Jordan had an Iraqi coach who did very well for them. Mexico had a Colombian coach and many other examples as well. So he said the nationality of the head coach is not important. When he said Australian or Korean, I thought about Ange Postecoglou for the future. What do you think about that? For the future, if you have to pick from a good Iranian coach like Golmohammadi, Nekounam, Veisi, Tartar, etc. or a good Australian/Korean coach like Ange Postecoglou, which one do you pick?
