Tbh, I would rather see him playing for a mid-table team in a top league over Zenit. Unfortunately, the amount of media exposure the Russian league receives is too small compared to the top 4 leagues.

Azmoun plays as 100% starter for the Champions of Russia, he doesn't need some mediocre team from an overrated league, in a rainy country where they eat out of old newspapers.
As much as I don’t want Azmoun to go to Palace as I think he can do better than them it’s comments like this and all the others that are infuriating . Take your stereotypes out of this forum and learn to be respectful to others who post on here.

I appreciate that people can have their views on clubs but it is getting annoying the constant anti-British rhetoric on this forum, keep it out of the football forum please.

They are still stuck in their colonial mindset where they used to plunder and steal the resources of other countries. Still not aware that their position as a world power is long gone and that the only reason they are not being overrun by China and Russia in their own miserable rainy island is due to US protection.
Like it or not, UK is still a world power.

football at its core ultimately is a Business and Bizzzine$$$$$$ iz good in England..!!
im sure all zenit really care about is getting the bigge$t bid for their golden boy and unfortunately or fortunately BPL teams are the richest and most capable of splurging the big cash to land him..!

i'd only suggest he stays put in Zenit till Summer and (@ first at least )only seriously entertain offers from Top 5 teams in Top 4 leagues..!
If it's to be a EPL team, then Demand and only settle for the Highest Transfer fee and Salary possible..... as if you're considered a budget squad player and not an expensive marquee signing in this league.... then you'r definitely going to be treated like a dog-shitt, disposable player and your EU career will be fked permanently after..!

Half their popcorn fart team won’t be able to reach a final of an FA Cup let alone be invited to or even play at a World Cup with their national team. And yet their fans have puffed up their chests as if they’re some big deal Crystal Palace kodoom chosieh dige

Can people here tell me who were the finalists of both the Champions League and Europa League of 2019? (Hint: Your total answer should be 4 English teams.)

Historically, the power of the league was in the hands of La Liga. Nowadays, I believe that power has shifted to Premier League.

BTW it was the British who brought football to Iran in the first place

Crystal Palace may not be the best team, but people here are making it sound like it's an unheard of, obscure team with no respectability in world football or some “dahati” team.

I mean, I shouldn't bite but what the hell.

Firstly, whatever point your trying to put across conflates club and international fandom. You're replying to a post about online comments made by a section of a certain club's fans and generalising it to fandom of the English national team. English fans largely get behind their team like any national team fans. Furthermore your post is laden with unsupported generalisations based on your feelings and interpretations of English football and it's fans. How many English football fans do you know or socialise with? I am one and know plenty. I can't think of many that have expected us to win the last few editions of the World Cup or Euros. I can't think of many who aren't aware that the English league has an abundance of international players that has made it a more exciting product than it was a few decades ago.

The fact is you'd struggle to convince anyone with hard evidence that "they" (meaning all English national team fans) think they're "the best country in football". Off the bat you're wrong with me, as I often have low expectations for the team because we've serially been a QF, lose on penalties team in my lifetime (until last summer that is, more on that later). Furthermore, any fans that do have an inflated sense of expectation beyond optimism going into international tournaments have likely been misled by media coverage during international tournaments. It's a simple formula that sells newspapers. Create hysteria and build them up to either watch them fall or so that they're lauded when they succeed.

Your comparison countries have all reached the World Cup semi final in recent times (though Sweden is going back a bit all the way to 94), as England did a mere 18 months ago. Have you forgotten? If not, then where on Earth do you base your "barley come close" and "have come closer" comments on. For what it's worth England have more of an international pedigree than the other 3 sides you mentioned, having featured at more tournaments and having won more games / having a better win ratio than all but Turkey, though that's skewed by the fact that Turkey have only been able to appear at 2 World Cups in their whole history. There are only a handful of countries with a better finals record than England. Most of you can probably name them as they've won the majority of tournaments.

People on here who bash the Premier League, while at the same time following the league or even make claims to supporting a club, really don't do themselves any favours. Outside of the weird inferiority complex they convey in their feelings toward the league, the facts make light work of those feelings. Time and time again it features as one of the best leagues, if not the best league, in the world from credible sources based on measurable criteria (goals per game, point differential from first to last / how competitive the entire league is, continental wins, etc)... not people's feelings.

In terms of expenditure, there's definitely a premium paid by English clubs given the amount of revenue each club makes in the league, so naturally they spend more than a top Eredivisie, Turkish or Greek Super league team does. If the league is so shit, why were last season's Champions League and Europa League finals an all English contest? Why has no other country achieved that? Yeah, OK mate, the league's shit

Nobody is making it seem as though it’s an unknown team. It’s their delusional fans who are making their club seem bigger than it is and making themselves look bad by doing so. And in return we chuckle at them like we did the Nutt ham Forest who lived in complete fantasies as if they were brought down from the heavens to teach Karim how to play football lol.

The point is, I’m kidding about Crystal Palace. But if their fans talk too much then we respond. We don’t want our player to go sit on the Crystal Palace bench. Unless it’s written in his contract that he’d be given (this amount# of opportunities) and etc. Sardar is the best Iranian player in the world in 2020. Nobody really is putting down EPL. We’re just experienced as fans when it comes to “Iranian player + EPL = No good”

No but there are legitimate criticisms to make of their team that would show Azmoun would not be a good fit.

Remember how much better Azmoun looked when he went from Rostov to Zenit. He got the ball more and scored more.

Azmoun would do best on a team that provides chances on a regular basis.

I dont think I'm out of place when I say most lower half teams in the EPL are very dependent on sole forwards to do the lions share of work in buildup.

Look at Brighton last year... their midfield was essentially 2 extra wingbacks and 2 extra CDMs. Murray and whoever had to do everything (Ali was a wingback).

Crystal Palace is similar. They need fast guys like Townsend and Zaha to literally carry everything going forward. Milivojevic is another deep lying CDM.

These teams have their own special form of aliasghari. Burnley is another example. Two lines of 4...hoof it up to Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood... hold up..attack.

Newcastle- Now they have Joelinton. They had Rondon. West Brom used Rondon. These guys are a different sort of striker to Sardar.

Sardar would do much better in La Liga and Bundesliga as his speed, movement off the ball, and box presence will be more appreciated. He has played the role of target man and counter attack striker in defensive systems for too long. Give the guy what he needs.

And a quick comment on English football... I'm a Manchester Utd fan but what of the best teams is exactly English now?

Liverpool and Tottenham had at most half of their players in the CL final be English.
In Europa...Arsenal and Chelsea were not exactly teeming with British talent last year.
Dont get me wrong I like us getting British talent like James, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka. But thats because our board keeps getting mercenaries like Pogba and Sanchez.

                          Too long didnt read......

Azmoun isnt a good match for a team like Crystal Palace.

I dont think anybody is arguing PL doesnt have top teams. With the amount of TV revenue they bring in, almost all foreign coaches and foreign players, do you really expect them to be bad? Anyways their success is built on foreigners almost exclusively.

There are 2 of the best in the planet, and then a group of 3-4 under them that also have enormous financial resources and are able to really compete at a high level. Wolves and Leicester are challenging the dominance of this group. Everton have the potential to do so.

Of that secondary group, you can argue that the likes of arsenal, spurs, and united are not even that strong to warrant all the hype and fanfare surrounding them, from a purely footballing standpoint. They are on par or inferior to other teams on the continent that receive far less hype, and with regards to player development even these teams are generally horrible.

Outside of these 6 are so teams, the rest are very weak, play low quality football, just there to make up numbers. Rarely do we see even the top teams in PL picking up majority of their squads from these teams.

Reality is that azmoun is not going to one of the top 6 teams if he goes to england, and the rest are not at a level both in terms of quality of players, quality of coaching, or quality of project/ambitions to warrant azmoun moving from zenit to there.

And yes, crystal palace are part of the shit that falls into this category. In no way would that represent an upgrade for azmoun besides being able to say he is now in the PL, which means little considering the crap hed be playing for.
