    Look in the mirror.

Also, I'm very cautious how a bunch of you guys (the brankoholics who seem to only come to troll and snipe) just turned up at the beginning of this tournament with a few years gap before you last posted.

Another member here hadn't posted anything for a while and then writes exactly the same bypass-of-understanding "U23 roster = U23 team" message just a very short time before the Iran-China game was going to start.

It's almost like the net goal is to provoke and troll rather than appreciate just how much our football has changed and be happy for these days. Namak nashnas people you are.

The Japanese used their U-19 squad in the 2002 Asian Games; lol, that's right, they used an U-19 team ..... they didn't use their U-23 team, or even their U-21 team. Likewise, KSA did not even compete in the tournament, in keeping with their tradition of not sending teams to compete in the Asian Games football competition.

Iran, on the other hand, as you've explained, entered that tournament using what was for all practical purposes a full senior national team with only two missing players (A. Karimi and R. Rezaei).

Javad Nekounam, who was probably the most high-profile player of that team, was already invited to TM at the time of Mansour Pourheydari and was used as a starter by Blazevic regularly during the '02 WCQs. Another key player was Nikbakht Vahedi, who was already a fixture on the senior level national team. While these two players were under 23 years of age, they were nonetheless senior level national team players, so it's simply dishonest to argue that we used a group of rookie/newbies.

The only players missing from that squad were Ali Karimi, Mahdavikia and Rezaei, and Mahdavikia was not even available anyway because he was recovering from a back surgery. Peyrovani, who he had mentioned in his reply, had already retired from the national team. He also mentioned Navazi, who never was a regular, or even a sporadic player for TM.

After the 2002 WCQs, TM was forced by NECESSITY to undergo a generational shift at the national level; players that were traditionally used in several positions were getting too old, and retired, so whoever became the head coach of TM HAD TO use younger players, which is why you saw players like Kaabi, Navid-kia, Badavi, Kazemian, Mobali and Saeed Lotfi, all of whom were ALREADY playing for the senior national team prior to Busan.

Simply put, it's disingenuous and desperate to use a youth tournament where we used a full senior squad to defeat an U-19 team, to bolster the national team track record of the current PP head coach.

I read on social media that if CQ reaches the Asian cup final (or wins it) his contract will automatically renew for 4 years. Obviously, CQ would have the right of refusal. Can anyone confirm this?

Gol Bezan said that Carlos has not signed with Columbia yet and is open to staying with Iran, but has not been offered an extension by IFF yet.

They have good sources, so hopefully it's true.

A Colombian sports journalist is reporting that Colombia's offer to Queiroz is between 3 to 4 million dollars annually. Moreover, he says that while Queiroz has not formally signed any contract with Colombia yet, he has made a verbal agreement:

Also, a high ranking IFF official has said that Iran can no longer afford Queiroz due to the country's financial situation and has suggested Branko as a replacement for TM coach:

I doubt Colombians pay 3M for Carlos. They can not afford it. Last time I checked they were after Osorio and Scolari and they could not reach to an agreement because of the price tag. Scolari has 4M price tag.

Can we all just wait? CQ has numerous times previously been mum and the outpouring of public support forced IFFs hand such as after WC14. You guys forget he has fought against this system for eight years and knows how to play ball. Just let things settle out. Branko will not be our next manager, no one wants a divisive cretin who was so spineless he didn’t even come back to Iran after the WC06 fiasco. Just let things settle out after the tournament. For now, let’s just enjoy this ride, whether or not it is CQ’s last one with IRAN. ALL FOR TEAM MELLI!!

Just hope we could have a colombia friendly.
The best thing would have to see him coach a top league club and buy iranian players in mass like Charleroi

Interestingly, if Queiroz does indeed take the Colombia job, it looks like his next game will again be against Japan; Colombia has scheduled its next friendly against Japan in March.

Colombia will not be signing a contract with CQ. He has nothing to offer Colombia and will not last there not even 6 months. CQ is made for badbakht countries like an Iraq. He can take a team like Iraq to the next level. Maybe even qualify them for a world cup depending of course they give him time and the group they get.
