Whatever happened to the Dutch "Total Football"?

Not that Brighton are exponents. System is rather rigid and specialised players by the limitations of their skills.

CH more likely than not will play inverted wingers:

    Natural foot:

    Alireza Jahanbakhsh R
    Anthony Knockaert L
    José Izquierdo R
    Solly March L

A bench warmer for club record fee? No way. How did you get to be worried? He just got there and hasn't played a full match yet...

          Watford (A) on the bench.

More than 50% chance that Alireza Jahanbakhsh will come on as a 25 yo sub at 67 minutes (Prediction).

Couple of days have passed, anyone know where to find a link to see his first 20 mins for BHA?

Locadia was a benchwarmer last season and he was their previous record signee.

Not that I'm saying JB will be a benchwarmer.

The nature of the Premier League is such that there will be games this season where you have the same reaction. Especially against the top 6 teams but even against the rest, if you have a bad game you can look really poor. The lesson for most of our supporters from last season was to quickly put the bad games behind you, because they will happen. I hope we play well enough this season for you to enjoy our games but I'm sure we won't satisfy everyone.

Our target has to be 40 points again, which is the number you target to stay in the league. There is a fantastic "tracker" thread on our forums that helps to keep the fans perspective. The general idea is we are looking to get 3 points at home and 1 point away against the leagues bottom 10 sides, and nothing from the rest. We are currently looking at 5 points from our first 7 games, which I imagine may have a few a little twitchy. I think we have a really tough start and the 3 points from those 5 against Fulham will be tough to come by as they have recruited well this summer.

Slim chance Knockaert will start over Alireza. Even Brighton fans know that last season right wing/mid was one of their weak spots. Assuming they're going by Alireza's form last year, he would start over Knockaert in a heartbeat. Not to mention he is the most expensive transfer in Brighton history (obviously the intention is that he will be an essential first team player). If anything Knockaert and Izqueirdo will challenge for LM position.

Well as of now Knockaert is first choice for the rw position. He was man of the match in their last friendly against Nantes and was sharp in their other preseason friendlies.

Yeah but did he score all those goals against Dutch goat farmers last season?

Don't kid yourselves, Knockaert is a class player and ARJ has a fight on his hands to earn a starting spot.

3 meaningful touches, not worth watching. Brighton were managing their game out in the pre-season heat.

I understand your point, but don't discredit ARJ like that. Knockaert is a class player, definitely proved himself in the premier league and I agree ARJ will have to fight for his spot with him. But honestly I'm not sure if a solid/good EPL winger such as knockaert would be able to score as many goals as ARJ did in Holland. His accomplishments and stats last year were unreal!

^ it doesn't take a dolid/EPL player to score as many goals in Eredivisie these days, a terrible winger from second devision of malesian handball league will also do just fine......

Not discrediting ARJ.....it's just that the Dutch league (and especially it's defense and goalies) are barely above amateur level these days.
