This team had a preparation no other u23 team had as far as I remember, yet very dissapointing.

Hence why it pisses me off when they use sanctions & other BS as reasons why they couldn’t muster up a friendly for TM..!
They got a coach who couldn’t even arsed to show up to games any sooner than 3-4 days prior & a lousy federation who couldn’t find their way outa paper bag when it comes to formulation of a sound contract for WM & holding him more responsible for his pathetic achievements so far in charge.

Stili is proven to be a losing coach, he just doesn't have it. The damage Shojaei did to TM against Iraq Stili will do the same to TM omid (TMO) as long as he is with TMO in any position. Don't understand IFF for this grave stupidity by keeping Stili around TMO. Hope IFF come to it's sences and gets rid of Stili for good.

Why didn't the federation ask Willy to also coach the under 23 or at least work with Estili and provide technical and tactical advise. (well, as you can appreciate, I am making a big assumption here that Willy is actually capable of doing those!)

My ( and my and my colleagues in the technical staff evaluation of the camp and 3 matches were very positive because of the time constraint required. We had the opportunity to make the most of it. There were discussions and evaluations of several game systems and styles in the three races with three different systems and arrangements because we needed to test these styles and some players in different positions

The result is definitely one of the most important parts of a football match, but at some point you have a bigger goal just like our situation at the time when we were trying to test the squad and the players as well as choosing the right strategy. I think the technical staff had a good summary of system selection and tactics as well as the style of play.

U23 Nov camp include 3 games, They lost two and barely able to tie the third but these Joker coaches keep repeating that their evaluation is positive and are satisfied with results.
Estili has been with the team over one year with Kranjcar selecting players for him and assisting him , then 4 months with Majidi and over a month by himself. After intimal bad results he added Peyrovani previous U23 failure as assistant.
To justify their incompetency , failure , they resort to lies and deceit.

They claim they are still testing players and 3 different systems.
IS this training camp for U23 players or learning lab for idiot coaches.

They selected 23 players for these 3 games but only included 6 defenders .Aghajanpour did not make it and when Arta and Gholami got injuries, they had no RB and CD players for two games. They played Mehdikhani, Roostaei both FW and Hosseinzadeh as RB and for CB position they used Noorafkan.
They lost both games. Now they said they were trying different system.

U23 got 1 points from 3 games ( Indo & Qatar) last month. Problem with RB was obvious and fatal but Estili was unable to have a solution.
Aghajanian was only RB in list of 23 when they left Iran for Indonesia and Qatar. Aghajanpour sustained serious injury during practive just before leaving.

Arta and Gholami are CB but have experience playing as RB. Arta sustained Injury in Indonesia and Gholami refused to play RB. Estili was forced ro play Mehdikhani ( RW) and Roostaei ( FW) as RB and they performed awful.

Aghajanpour will miss Qualification next month in Thailand and U23 coaches are trying to find a replacement.

They are testing Saki ( Sanatnaft) , Shahsavari ( Peykan) , Kargar ( Esteghlkal) , Kamangir ( Zobahan)...

Soon they will released U23 list and will find out if there are surprises.

Mehdikhani is now playing RB/RWB for his club side in croatia.

He has physical qualities to play there and be effective, especially at asian level. I actually think he can be a good fit in that role, especially given there are no other standout candidates.

Additionally, it is difficult to see mehdikhani fitting into the forward line that will surely include Ghaedi, Allahyar, Mohebbi (my preferred starting 3) with Delfi, Azadi, Roostaei all potential options as well. Shekari behind those guys, despite the fact he isnt playing for tractor I think could be most deadly option. I hope regardless Estili just narrows down an xi with 3-4 players rotating in and out.

Imo, this is the strongest lineup available. I would love to hear your input St mark jan, as always.

Shekari is still by far the most technically proficient player on the team and the only one capable of controlling tempo and keeping possession. Even in highlights I see vs indonesia he was best player and unlucky not to score multiple times. He has improved physically since early Rubin days when I saw him. Plus, he has experience from u20 WC where he was one of the standout performers of group stage. Ghaedi, Allahyar, Shariati, Noorafkan, Delfi, Sharifi all also have experience at high pressure youth tournaments.

Delfi has european experience, as does Mehdikhani now. Mohebbi, Allahyar, Noorafkan also have some good experience with TM.

The team is not short on quality, or experience. Estili is a disaster but somehow I still have hope that by sheer talent alone the team will perform respectably. They have also had a solid preparation with many good level friendlies vs variety of opposition.

Noorafkan, Ghaedi, Mohebbi, Mehdikhani, Gholami all being in good form playing regularly also is good for this team.

I saw his game in Indonesia. As RB he was aweful .



Iran's first match is on January 9 , about 4 weeks from now but there is no confirmed scchedult for the last traning camp and final selection process. It's really very late for testing so many new players .

Without IFF intervention with serious pressure clubs will not release their players and Estili so far remain desperate , asking for help.

Shariati and Delfi are injury prone and currently not at their best condition , they both did physical test at TM cam last week.
Shekari's physical condition is a question mark ( so much distraction, not playing a serious game).
