Morocco Seeks to Play Friendly Against Belgium Ahead of 2018 World Cup
    By Safaa Kasraoui - December 5, 2017

Rabat – The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) believes that the Belgian national football team is a good sparring partner for the Moroccan squad to help prepare for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, according to Moroccan media.

The federation seeks to arrange a friendly game between the Moroccan and Belgian team ahead of the next phase of the World Cup, which will take place in Russia next summer.

The Atlas Lions are set to play decisive games against strong opponents in its Group B: Spain, Iran, and Portugal. In efforts to get the squad ready for the tournament, the federation is seeking friendlies with European teams to test its strengths and weaknesses and prepare its footballers for the tournament.

The federation says it believes the Belgian team’s playing tactics and style resembles to that of Spanish team La Roja.

The game will also be beneficial to the Belgian team, as it will face Tunisia during the next phase of the tournament.

Before the tournament’s final draw on December 1 in Moscow, Moroccan daily newspaper Assabah reported that Morocco’s team manager, Herve Renard, wanted his team to play against European and Latin American squads to evaluate the Lions’ abilities.

Earlier this year, speculation were spread by international media that the Moroccan team would play two friendlies against Scotland and Argentina.

Fouzi Lekjaa, the president of FRMF, said in an interview with Moroccan sports channel Arriyadia that Moroccan squad will face Argentina in a friendly in Agadir next March.

SFA hold talks over Scotland facing Morocco in March friendly clash
      By Mark Walker 11:20, 5 DEC 2017Updated11:29, 5 DEC 2017

Africans look to play warm up match in Europe as boss Herve Renard preps his side for World Cup test against Spain, Portugal and Iran.

Moroccan FA president Fouzi Lekjaa has confirmed they are in 'advanced negotiations' with the SFA for a friendly with Scotland .

But they may now opt to move the match to Europe instead of in Africa - a continent where Scotland have never played.

Managerless Scotland have no games planned as yet until the Nations League starts in September, with the draw not even made for that until next month.

Morocco had originally planned to play Scotland and Argentina in Agadir in the south of the country and were exploring the possibility of hosting a mini-tournament.

But Atlas Lions boss Herve Renard has now indicated he wants the preparation games to be in Europe after getting hit with a nightmare World Cup draw with saw them pitched in with European superpowers Spain and Portugal, as well as Iran.

And they want to play the Scots in March.

Lekjaa said: "We will have a final meeting with the technical staff and confirm our plans for the preparation matches for the World Cup.

"Contact has been made with Scotland, Poland and Iceland and negotiations are advanced because we want to play teams whose style is the same as the countries in our group and they are all European nations.

"The coach has indicated he wants to play in Europe to get our players who don't play in the European leagues acclimatised to playing this type of football.

"Our goal is to be in Russia in the best possible shape, with the best possible build-up."

And as usual IFF is in hibernation. We wait till very last minute to think of friendlies, while all WC teams have already started setting up their friendlies.

The following match had been arranged one year in advance.

OFFICIAL | Spain to face Germany in 2018 friendly in Düsseldorf

Julen Lopetegui's men will face world champions Germany in a friendly in 2018

Spain will begin 2018 with a trip to Düsseldorf to face Germany on Thursday 23 March (kick-off time still to be confirmed.) The match will be Spain’s opening fixture of 2018.

The last meeting with Germany – the 21st between these two sides - came at Balaídos Stadium in November 2014. Four years after their last fixture in Vigo, Julen Lopetegui’s men will once again test themselves against Die Mannschaft – this time in Düsseldorf.

Spain and Germany have net on 21 occasions. The Spanish side has won seven of those 21 fixtures, with Germany triumphant on eight occasions and six draws.

A look at the most memorable matches betwen the two sides: Spain won the Euro 2008 title after beating Germany 1-0. Fernando Torres was Spain's goal hero.

In 2010, a 73rd minute header from Carles Puyol gave Spain a 1-0 win over Germany. Spain ended up as World Champions thanks to a goal by midfielder Andres Iniesta.

                      Interview with BOSS!

Through his connection he already confirmed Iran's last preparation game vs Algeria in Tehran.

CQ also wishes to play Turkey on 28th May.
He also said friendlies vs Croatia and Bulgaria and Italy would be very suitable for Iran's preparations.

Also Iran's team camp in Russia will be at Lokomotiv Moscow's facilities.

(PS: he didn't say that, but he somehow gave certain vibes through telepathy that PP > SS!)

The matches against Mauritania/guinea/sudan is not in Africa Cup of Nations (ACN - CAN in french), it's the African championship of Nations (ACHN- CHAN in french), hosted by Morocco, 16 teams qualified and will compet for that championship, the African confederation decid to creat this competition when they noticed, local pmayers don't have big chances to play in first national teams ,african teams are fulll of players who play in europ.
the CHAN is only for players who play in national league,Botola for Morocco, at max, 4/5 players from that team can make it and be part of first team who will play in World Cup and they will be substituts.

The match against Argentina is not confirmed, after World Cup draw, morocco think to cancel it and meeet teams similar to ones we have in group

                          Translated from le360.ma

"A few months from the Russian world, Hervé Renard is already on all fronts to finalize the preparation of the selection. Starting with the Lions' stay in Switzerland for a final internship before heading to Russia, Al Ahdath Al Maghribia informs on 8 December. Back from Switzerland, Renard will be meeting next week with FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa and the National Selection Committee to outline the details of the three breeding selection programs.

According to the daily, from 19 to 27 March, the selection will fly to a European country that has not yet been determined even if we talk about France, England, Italy, Holland or Turkey . Taking advantage of this date Fifa, the selection will play two matches, including one against a European country and a second against an Asian selection.
A second concentration camp will follow the next month and will take place at the sports center of Maâmora, totally renovated by that date. Subsequently, the selection will fly to Switzerland for a final internship before leaving for St. Petersburg in Russia.

The choice of the Swiss confederation is motivated by the fact that the climate prevailing at this time of year resembles that of Russia. To keep an eye on the health of the players, Renard commissioned the national team doctor, Abderrazak El Hifti, to provide him with complete weekly reports on the state of health and possible injuries of the players, and that up to next march."

PERU WANT TO TAKE ON RONALDO

Peru are also eyeing a big-name pre-World Cup friendly, and are keen to take on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal.

Peruvian Football Federation president Edwin Oviedo said many options are being considered, and Portugal is “one of them”.

“We have many proposals for friendly matches, the professors are evaluating them, there are more proposals than we could imagine, they are against European teams,” Oviedo told Peruvian outlet La República.

He added: “There are several proposals, Portugal is one of them, at this point I prefer that the technical command and the management of the teams evaluate and determine which is the most convenient.”
