Who is all time best Iranian player ?

Although,we already have " the all time best TM " thread, I thought, this subject also deserves a thread and vote of itself..
Who do you believe, is the all time best player for TM , who is the all time MVP ? for IRAN...
Obviousle, there will be different opinions ...
    ..
In my opinion...,if I have to choose only one.....the best all time, TM player......is, was, has been, ... :
    .
    " Ali Daei "...
    .
    then
    .
    Hasan Roshan,
    Dejagah,
    Ali Karimi ....

Mahdavikia had a much more successful career on club level, no doubt. But what makes Karimi much better for me is because no one was as big of a game changer as him, he could turn around a game totally by himself.

it depends on how u interpret the question of the thread. ali karimi was up to my knowledge, one of the most talented players in iranian football. ofcourse, we shouldnt discount the fact that since he was an attacking player, he is much easier appreciated than a defender or gk. the fact that we havent been able to replace abedzadeh for almost 15 years now or hejazi for 30 years now tells u how talented they were in their field.

my definition of "best" which is wat is being asked in this thread is a player with very good talent, very good sense of professionalism, very good character and very good success record to prove it all. he may not be the best in any of them, but he scores so high in all important factors that makes him an amazing all rounder player. i think when u look at it this way, noone comes close to mahdavikia's in all these attributes. very good talent in speed, dribbling, football IQ, shooting; very professional attitude where he could adapt himself in a very difficult country with difficult culture, very good character with limited hashie and great leadership qualities as we all know and has a very good report card to prove it all both at club and at country level.

karimi was superiorly skilled but in almost every other department, he comes behind mahdavikia. ali karimi is like a student who scores a 99% on biology but scores 60% to 80% in other subjects. mahdavikia is to me someone who would score a 95% in every subject, both academics and extra curricular activities.
another way of looking at it is, which would u rather have, a team of 11 mahdavikias or a team of 11 karimis? i think we will both agree that a team of 11 mahdavikias would guarantee more success than 11 karimis who will only have great raw talent but lack a lot in other departments. iran has produced and will continue to produce a lot of talent not as good as karimi but good enough, but has yet to produce a second mahdavikia. maybe ali daei, hashemian and nekounam can also make a case for themselves but mahdavikia as an overall package beats them in my opinion.

there is no question that Daie, Karimi and Mahdavikia are simply on another level.

After them players like Parvin and Bagheri come to mind.

other like Hejazi and Ghelichkhani were superstars in their own time but they can't touch the ability of the 5 that I just mentioned.

Who is all time best Iranian player ?

With all due respect I don't think Dejagah is one of Iran's all time best player.

He is good but average at best for international standards.

He did not deliver at the World Cup at all.

I think Mahdavikia is Iran's best player of all time.

the words that immidiately come to my mind ( aside from being top TM players )..when I hear the name of following players.
                    ..
1- Mahdavikia = Consistantly good , but not great.
                    .
2- Karimi = Exccelent dribbler only , not too smart, never developed to his full potentionals.
                    .
                    3- Hassan Roshan = " Excitement "
                    .
                    4- Ali Daei = " professional Finisher ".
                    .....
                    ..
                    the best...Ali Daei

                      Ali Karimi not too smart?

He is literally the smartest footballer iran ever had. His main attribute was his passing and later his superb finishing. His dribbling were in fact a bit static and would not work that well versus world class defender.

Ashkan is as good as Mahdavikia if not better.

What set Mahdavikia apart is his professionalism, loyalty and of course his incomparable service to iran and TM.

Ali Karimi is by far the most entertaining and gifted player we have had, and tops the chart. Although he did not win anything meaningful for us in Team Melli, but his level of play and his progress in one of top teams in the world before his injury still moves him to first place. What happened after that injury and how his attitude gradually changed is the dark part of his resume.

Ali Parvin lost his first place to Karimi despite his amazing accomplishments in TM. During his era of leadership and play making, Iran dominated the Asia and found it's way to World Cup. Parvin was the main player behind Iran's success with his play making and leadership as a captain on and off the pitch. His set pieces and his dribbling techniques were his trade marks. His dark days goes to his coaching career and drive for "more money and power" and using everything in his power to remain in his club despite his lack of knowledge and understanding of modern football.

Parviz Ghelichkhani drops to third but TM turned into power house under his leadership and play making. Captain Ghelich started a decade of great accomplishment in Asia for Iran that led to such popularity of football in Iran. His play making and his long distance shots were his trademarks. His career was cut short due to his political believes. The government of his time no longer wanted him near Team Melli due to his socialist believes and activities.

Hassan Rowshan takes the fourth place despite his short national team career. From very young age, he was simply amazing in scoring along with his speed and techniques. He was next in the list to take over TM's leadership after Parvin and carry the success torch but serious injury took it away from him. He loved TM so much that he basically sacrificed his career for it. His return to the pitch despite his injury in a critical match basically finished Rowshan as we knew him. He never recovered. Had he remained healthy, he could have possibly move up. His trademark was scoring with his amazing scissor kicks. After partial recovery he moved to UAE to end his career there.

Mahdavikia for his international accomplishments, Daei for his great scores and leadership, Dejagah for being the only Iranian player to be effective in both English Premier League and Bundes Liga and his recent display in TM (could still move up if he wins something meaningful with TM as a captain), Hejazi for winning so many games for us during Iran's most successful era, and Bagheri and Abedzadeh finish the top ten list in this order.

Missed the list by inches are Ando, Nekunam, Azizi, and Mohammadkhani.

Who is next to take a spot in top ten? Sardar Azmoun. Who has still more time to move up? Dejagah.
We thank and support Mr.Kamran Delan for many years of dedication and service to Iranian Football Community.
                          Go IRAN!

its so difficult to pick a number 1 in a team sport. Hence, thats why I opened earlier the "Best TM of all time thread".

I agree with Mansour's post totally, my only difference would be to have Khodadad Azizi and Rahman Rezaei to be also included in the top 10, the rest I am very fine with.
perhaps adding also Majid Namjoo Motlagh in top 11....
