        lol. this is Qatar
Yemen is a war zone now, they don't host

at the moment in AFC, Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Afghanistan (anymore ?) can not host their home matches. we will play them in another country if we get them in next stage.

What most dont realize is that football is mostly about positioning. In the highest leagues on Earth, The Champions League, World Cup Finals, you see teams move around the pitch to pinpoint accuracy. They move in a flowing manner and cut off passing lanes and make a game closed down. In these initial games, you see Pakistan/Bhutan/Sri Lankas players lose their shape so often by sending 2/3 people after whoever has the ball.

In my sunday league with other Iranians, you can tell who is from Iran and who was born in the states. The Iranian born players are great technically/with flair but lack positioning. Things like someone placing a pass ahead of you to run onto. They insist the pass should be directly to them and it slows the game down. Its a futsal mentality. The Iranians born here in the states pass more and stay more rigid positions. If I play DM I stay in the middle and distribute. If I play striker, only I press and everyone else manmarks. The Iranian born players have more of a futsal free flow.

Its way too much to conpare Iran to these lowly minnows but its very obvious that Iranian players need to get a balance of flair and positioning. With CQ we are all positioning, the fourty years before that we were all flair. If we could establish european schools to teach our kids positioning growing up, our players would wreck Asia everytime.

Count how many times you've seen IPL teams pass the ball stagnantly to each other without moving off the ball. This is mostly a laziness/lack of stamina from our players. If we could raise the stamina levels of IPL with dietary/weight training requirements, we would start winning the ACL every once in a while.

These matches between minnows reminded me of weaknesses they have that we have to a smaller degree that we have to fix. Regardless, I hope these teams improve quickly so they can take points off Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Iraq so less of our away games end up in the Arab world.

You seemed to have ignored zand's post. These are teams that have "dynamic wingers", an "organized defense" and "free kick specialists".

Bhutan and India are serious business.

at least Khakpoor's qualifications games are right around the corner not some 6 months down the road..!!
and considering the embarrassing recent Omid TM results vs similar foes, and the FACT that there services are far more vital for OFFICIAL OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS not some bs Friendlies, there is no question where our priorities should be placed in order to do the most good for our football's future..!!

you make some good points, here is what i dont agree with. im all for JB and Azmoun helping TM Omid reach the olympic and even play in them if they can. these four games, are to qualify to qualify for the tourney! why should they go a level down this early? to play against teams that they wont lear anything from? do you think they will have the same motivation to play against nepal? pali? afgh? saudi? i honestly dont think so! all they will be thinking about is, fuck .... we could of been playing zlatan and sanchez right now. 0 motivation. im all for it for them to join when the real Qualifiers actually start! not to play against Mini mini Mini Micky mouse teams. thats the way i see it, i respect your opinion but dont fully agree with you.

Yes, initially sure they would have seen themselves as the sought-after leaders of the team, and no doubt other youngsters in the team would have rallied around their leadership and all woulda felt much better about their chances of achieving much past-due Olympic qualification glory for Iran ..!!

but anymore who knows..?? not so sure after greedy CQ acting like a arrogant, spoiled, overly needy child crying foul, throwing a hissy fit and making a big fuss about their possible joining of Khakpoor's Omid team.

Hence forcing Khakpoor already on the defensive having to address the possible motivation issue before they even possibly join his Omid TM, so they dont come to his team already with exaggerated sense of entitlement because there were so much fighting and drama for garnering their services by both sides..!!

who the fuck knows anymore about their commitment/motivation to the cause????? with the two players thinking to themselves what if their opting to play for Omid could possibly burn their bridges with already well known grudge-holding CQ who's obviously reigning with iron-fist at helm of Senior TM wanting everything done his way or hwy all the time..!!???

i suppose now that wanker Carlos done the damage and fked over these kid's mindset, khakpoor better off just going it w/o them and instead opt for alternative players ...!! perhaps he should check with all-mighty, infallible Carlos to see which other players are available to his team..!!?? before he even bother inviting them.??

i dont think it would be the right thing for me to come up with a counter argument because it clearly seems ur problem is with CQ as you keep insulting him.
so im gonna end that here haha.

I really don't understand why so many people are downplaying Saudi Arabia and Palestine.

I thought the established logic at PFDC was that you should never underestimate your opponents. Having said that, I personally appreciate that Nepal and Afghanistan are not going to be the strongest opponents (although even 1/3 to 1/2 of Afghanistan's team play in Europe, including 1st tier!),

But Saudi Arabia and Palestine both made it to the knock-out rounds of the Asian Games which was only a few months ago and the last major competition for this age group.

Palestine finished 1st in their group and lost to Japan in the round of 16. The Saudis went all the way to the quarters and lost to Iraq (arguably one of the most consistent teams in the U-23 in Asia). We finished dead last in our group of minnows with Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan!

So, I really like to understand the logic that leads to the conclusion that the other two teams are weaker than us or that we're going to breeze through this group and don't need all the help we can get or everything at our disposal.

If two teams were assured of making it through the group, I would understand the argument a little bit better, but with only 1 team, a tie with Saudi Arabia and even a win in every other game can still mean the end of our Olympic campaign.
