In addition, Brazil never wastes a friendly date and often plays against (weaker) teams (i.e. Neymar recently scored 4 in a friendly in Japan). Unless Neymar gets injured, he will probably break Daei's record. If not, he will come extremely close to it.

ya exactly.....and also brazil is not like the past where they keep producing top talent....they have been sucking for a while now and this WC proved it. if they dont produce anyone most likely they will stick with neymar as the poster child.

what else is our claim to fame? our 1 victories out of 12 WC games? and never making it past the group stage?

At the end of the day Neymar will be remembered as a football legend whereas no one really knows who Ali Daie is.
.... At the end I am nothing other than ordinary

No way man. Neymar doesn't even have the moustasche of a 10 year old Korean girl, let alone it matching Ali Daei's, or his goals.

He won't because Brazilians retire early unlike Daei that waited for Zambification (he did good --- we have a record thx to that lol)

If Neymar played against the teams Daei did, he could probably break 500 goals.

40 goals at 22 years old is remarkable. Come back in a year and if he reaches 60, I'm sure he'll do it.

That would be true if naymar played with brazil against the teams iran played against ,

I hear the statement you mentioned all the time which is false.

put naymar besides minavand and ostad assadi see if he can score 108 goals

Ali daei was a world class striker and a finisher, he was a specialist header compared to world class players of his time , most of the goals daei scored earlier in his career was headers

So its not a realistic comparison, a single player can only shine as a star if every thing is aligned perfectly for him in his team, otherwise he will be just another player

Why is messi different in barca than his NT , its the quality of the players surrounding him , in barca its a perfect match in NT is a mixmatch, the outcome ? Pouladi comes and does a yepa dopa to messi and higuaien in one single moment ,

Same stroy with chris ronaldo, an average player when he plays for portugal NT a super star in real madrid

Daei's record is a national pride not sure why iranians try their best to degrade some thing the entire world values, why are we so sick like this , why cant we be thankful and proud of someones hard work for us, we iranians must stop our bad habit of self devaluation and self destruction

He wont. Not because of the bullshit reason some visitors give here that Brazilians after 25 become bad or flop or other nonesens like Ronaldinio was crap as he passed 25, but because unlike Daei they dont play shitty countries like we do and because unlike Daei he wont be a starter in brazilian team untill 40. the competition is to much.

Ronaldinio today is still better than Daei was in his glory days, infact there was a big debate to take him to the world cup. Difference is he plays for a country that produces so many great players. In iran our best forwards play for arabs or kept the bench warm for a first division team in England. not even premiership but first division.

So no i doubt anyone will break Daei's record anytime soon.

Neymar besides Minavand and Ostad Asadi would have easily scored 50 more goals against Asian teams than Daei did. In his prime, Daei was the best Asian forward. No doubt. But are we really pretending he was on the same level as Neymar?

Even compared to the world class strikers of his own era Daei was not that special. These are some of his contemporaries: Bergkamp, Batistuta, Klinsmann, Romario, Bebeto, Rivaldo, Ronaldo. ... He was clearly not in the same league as any of those guys, and frankly it's silly to suggest that he was. Any one of them playing regularly against Asian defenders would have broken Daei's record. Romario and Bergkamp could have even doubled it, not to mention Ronaldo. Even at club level Hashemian had a better career in Europe than Daei did. He finished 3rd best scorer in Bundesliga with a mid-level team. Daei never came close to that.

Again, he was indeed the best Asian striker of his generation. But when you consider the vast difference in quality between Asian and European/South American football, especially at that time, that's not really saying much. This whole 'national scoring record' thing is put in perspective when you realize the 4th best is actually Bashar Abdullah of Kuwait.

To acknowledge these realities is not "bashing our heroes" or "putting ourselves down". It's simply not falling for the equally bad cultural habits of hero worship and relying on myths and exaggerations to inflate our pride.

According to this ranking, Daei is only the 2nd highest scorer after some Malaysian dude?
