Probably that's also the reason why the director of Groningen stated that they aren't interested.

It's not only the non-EU salary that stops both teams from buying him. Heerenveen already has two players for every wing. Groningen was searching for a winger, but they have gotten another big talent: Mahi. Jahanbakhsh probably would end up being a substitute for some other players. And a non-EU salary for subsitutes is a bit too much.
The N.E.C.-boss Bart van Ingen said that right now, there were no official offers on Jahanbakhsh. N.E.C. won't block transfers, when a club pays enough. Clubs have to pay a lot, though. Probably more than they want to pay.

"Transfer WK-goer Jahanbakhsh away by high costs

posted by Niels August 22, 2014 International News

Alireza Jahanbakhsh state after the relegation of his club NEC in emphatic interest from several clubs. However, the probability that the attacker Jupiler League can leave behind quite small.

The transition from the man from Iran is hampered by the extreme asking price that NEC uses the vanguard player. The salary which should be given to players who come from outside the EU paid is also very high. FC Groningen and Heerenveen previously showed interest in Jahanbakhsh, but both very frightened of the cost. Heerenveen has shown no interest in having the attacker from Iran more.

About interested Jahanbakhsh does not complain. The man from Iran already received offers from Russia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The clubs offered huge sums of money. "But Alireza indicated very clearly like to stay in the Netherlands itself," the agent of the Iranian attacker opposite RTV Noord."
