So the last WCQ match is gonna be the easiest match? That's new.

Just finished watching this and I have to say

Afarain be CQ for caring for our Football more than most people in charge. Watching him talk really brought tears to my eyes. Our football will sink into the Dark ages if we let a GEM like him go.

Also Bravo to Peyrovani for sticking up for CQ and having the balls to tell it like it is.

This is his latest post. He wants to leave, in case his plan doesn't get fulfilled.

Until de 30th April, when Iran Federation is going to accept my resignation or fulfill the conditions for the National Team World Cup Preparation Master Plan (issues that we have been discussing over the last 5 years), it is time to head Kuala Lumpur, where Tuesday the Russia 2018 Asia final round Draw will set the next matches. As I said, it is time to implement solutions. Iran’s first match will be on the 1st September, home, against Qatar or Iraq

Going by this schedule, I'm wondering how come the one time we are the top seeds, suddenly AFC changes the format and stops the final rapid fire three match schedule.

Dont mistake this for conspiracy theory or anything. But it's just ironic that each and every WCQ in the past 12 years, we had to travel huge distances in a matter of a week or so, to play THREE games (usually with only the middle game a home match)!!!
You know, the kind of schedule that favored the top seeds of each group who had a far easier three game schedule.
And each time the AFC refused to listen to the plight of teams that had to grapple with very tough scheduling and travel logistics.

Now, suddenly AFC grew conscience and became all caring and understanding? Bloody good for nothing bastards.

Well. At least we got an easy final game. And yet, there is some heavy travel involved as we have to come from the extreme east of asia. But I'll take it over the old three game torture.

The second point is if we get things right, we might even sail in the latter half of the schedule. That is if we win our opening two games that on paper should not b very difficult. With 6 points in the bag, we could coast in the next two games (# 3 & 4) that thankfully dont involve much travel for us as opposed to either japan or Korea.
Given how close these two games are and I'm guessing either japan or korea may have to travel, we might even have a look for a good win against tired eastern opposition afterall.

All in all, we need to strategize based on the order of the matches and the type of opponents, as well as dates. If we do it right, we could end up not needing the final easy game afterall.

                        The schedule:

برنامه کامل دیدارهای تیم *ملی در انتخاب جا*م جها*نی به این شرح است:

                        11 شهریور 95:

                        16 شهریور 95:

چین یا امارات (تیم چهارم) – ایران

                        15 مهر 95:

Another point is what choices would we prefer to have for the seed #4; UAE or China.
Given the schedule, if China, then we have some long travel to do (given how bloody cheap IFF is when it comes to Iranian people and spending towards Iranian comfort. Probably buy cheap aeroflot tickets that make it a 45 hours journey!!! With multiple stops) after our opening game. If UAE, then travel is a non issue. However, UAE may cause more trouble for us (on and definitely off the pitch) than china.
                          Which would we prefer?

UAE never defeated us once in their history if I'm not mistaking I would be fine if we get them, wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to avoid us actually. China is easier but as you say there is the travelling issue, however that will be a problem for all middle eastern teams so they will be hurt as much as us. I don't think this pot will make that much of a difference in the end as both have their positives and negatives

On game #4, against seed #2 teams (japan or korea) in Azadi:
If we're going to either hurt our direct competition or maybe even put some distance between us and them, it is in this game. If we relax and think a draw could serve us just as well, well we may get ourselves into a soup. Or we may not (if things go our way in other ties).
But as I always say it is always better to gather as many points as possible AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. Leaving it to the latter stages and final games to get the required points is not being wise, even if sometimes they work (by fluke or otherwise).
High time we behaved like seasoned professionals and did it like successful teams who go for maximum as early as possible, so they have some breathing space later on.
