In 1997 when Iran came to Melbourne Ali Daei went up to my friend and said bring a bottle of vodka for us up to my room. So my friend all excited and bragging to us that he is going to go drink with Daei took the bottle to his room. Ali Daei opens the door and is having a small party, takes the bottle and shuts the door in my friends face. Needless to say we give my friend shit for this on a very regular basis.
Hopefully the boys dont find people to do this for them as out current group of youngsters are more likely to do this then the class of 1997
Unless we get the same brand of vodka. It worked really well last time with Ali Dai giving a perfect pass to Azizi.
.... At the end I am nothing other than ordinary

Iran to Face Taifa Stars in Friendly
              Friday, 19 December 2014 13:58

Allafrica - IRAN football team has lined up a friendly against the national team, Taifa Stars, as part of their preparations for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup, the football federation announced in Tehran.

Carlos Queiroz's team is currently holding a training camp in South Africa, where they are expected to play three friendly matches ahead of next month's Asian Cup. Iran's highly-regarded Portuguese coach Queiroz, who despite an ageing side and chaotic preparation almost took his side into the World Cup second round in Brazil, took 21 players on the trip.

Team Melli will take on Tanzania, Guatemala and South Africa during the near-two-week camp, the federation said, before returning to the Iranian capital for another friendly against Palestine on December 28. The Asian nation defeated Kaizer Chiefs B team 2-0 in their first friendly match in Johannesburg on Wednesday.

The Asian Cup kicks off in Australia on January 9, with Iran playing Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates in the group stages. Queiroz (61), extended his tenure as coach with a four-year deal after coming back from Brazil.

His team's World Cup preparations were hobbled by cash woes, partly blamed on the economic sanctions imposed on Iran as punishment for pursuing a disputed nuclear programme.

Iran are aiming for a good Asian Cup -- their opener is against Bahrain on January 11 -- with Queiroz's next goal being to secure Iran's place at the next World Cup, in Russia, in 2018.

The Asian heavyweight will also play Palestine on December 28 in Tehran. Team Melli will meet Iraq in another friendly in Australia six days before their opening match against Bahrain.

IRI's politics is no different than handling a pressure cooker ..... As the pressure builds up, you slowly let the steam out just a tad bit so that you don't see overflow, and once the pressure from below is less, you put the lid down again and raise the temperature.

Don't worry bro, we'll definitely play one more friendly before the camp is finished... most likely against some high school team! But don't get too excited, 'cause we're not going to be playing their main team... most likely their special ed team!

Because just when you think that CQ can't shove it any further up our national pride, or those of us who have any left anyway, he always manages to sink us to a new low. At the rate we're going, our star players will be playing in Sri Lankan leagues.
