IPL Players to Watch Thread 2014/15

This thread is to be used to monitor interesting players in the Iranian Pro League for the 2014/15 season. The players mentioned are to be players that could impact Team Melli one day. The thread will be updated weekly so that players can be watched and assessed by members of PFDC if they are deserving of a national team spot.

    Here are the first two:

Vahid Amiri - Naft Tehran - Winger

In May of 2013 he joined Naft on a 2 year deal. Been in great form lately and can really make a difference with his playmaking ability.

Here is his highlights package from 2013/14 season:

Next one is a player we all know who could help us again as he did in the last Asian Cup.

Iman Mobali - Naft Tehran - Midfielder

He was in great form last year as his teammate and his playmaking skills were highly noticed. With the decline of Shojaei, he may be able to take up his position in the middle of the field again for the Asian Cup.

    Here is a highlights package:

We are currently witnessing a revolution in Iranian football. Team Melli has never been stronger than it is today, and we will only get better.

Vakia, the youth player of Foolad replacing Khaledi az a RB, is good and he is only 20 years old. He was doing a good job in the first half time.

Another player I totally forgot to put in my honorable mentions section is ayob kalantari.....

Not sure how I forgot, I could've sworn I had him in as I remember planning in writing about him but as I just went to double check I must've forgotten.... Edited and fixed niw.

        After week 1.....

Kalantari and ghafouri scored a goal each.

Abbaszadeh, jamaati, and hajmohamdi had very solid performances.

Sharifi also played well and could've scored 2-3 goals but was unlucky. Certainly still my favorite to win aghaye goal this season.

I expected to see Shoja Khalilzadeh in Top 5. Jalal Hosseini and Sadeghi are both 32. Pejman Montazeri is 30, and Alenemeh is 31. Except Montazeri, I do not think the other 3 can help us for WCQ 2018. We definitely need younger CBs. Mohammad Amin Haj Mohammadi, Shoja Khalilzadeh can be two choices for that position. Note that there can be other young CBs too.

^ he's someone in the category of the fixed players of TM. I don't think there is any doubt that he will be a part of TM going forward and of course we should monitor him, as I mentioned earlier, this thread is more about the look out for emergence of players who will fight to break into the TM roster and/or starting XI. Thanks for your feedback friend

Soursop rafiei had a real solid game today against PP. Scored a goal and was the heart of that midfield that displayed a very nice passing game. Hope this guy is in the next TM list as he continues his good form from last season into this season.

              WEEK 2

Valid Mashaeizadeh - Foolad - Attacking Midfielder

He made his debut last week for Foolad and assisted there only goal against Tractor Sazi. It was also his IPL debut and his vision is incredible. Plays for TM youth teams and definitely someone to be watched at the age of 21.

Here are highlights from their first match:

In regards to last weeks players, both Amiri and Mobali played the full 90 minutes and were decisive in the tie between Naft Tehran and Persepolis.

What will happen to them? I will tell you : Whenever their future performance will be, they will either :

                - stay in IPL or go straight to arab league
                - even if they go to Europe (very unlikely, as europeans aren't interested in iranians (racism, extra european quotas, etc...)), arab clubs won't let them breath and will offer them a high salary so they can break their european career earlier. Unfortunately these arab countries are close to Iran, that's also a reason iranian goes more easily there.

You all seem to have ignored or missed one of the best set piece takers for the future, who just happens to be extremely quick too; Foolad's Abdollahzadeh.

This lad has been massively impressive from the last 3-4 years I have been following him at U16, Foolad's youth, then to U19 and now, at Foolad's seniors.

You WILL see more of him and his fantastic set pieces

Faraki did not give chance to young players . He got playing time during Jalali when he was 18-19 but not during Faraki time.
He has been starter for Foulad for first two games , Let see if he can improve. He is shooting specialist but yesterday was Soroush day so Ahmad did not have chance to show his skill.

Interesting, I'll definitely keep an eye on him thanks for bringing him up doc.

Another player really catching my attention in the opening two weeks and even last year from the few games I remember of his is Sasan Ansari...really technical/skilled player. Very quick feet on the boy.

St mark do you have more info on Ansari?

                        Week 3

Mohsen Mosalman - Zob Ahan - Attacking Midfielder

Another attacking midfielder we can take a look at. He is a little shorter than average height at 5'9 but can do wonders with his foot. He started representing Iran at U14 so he has a lot of experience internationally. He was a part of Persepolis on loan last year. HE has been called up by Querioz in 2011 and he made his debut for the national team against Palestine. Here are some pictures of him:

Morteza Tabrizi - Zob Ahan - Midfielder

He has played for Zob Ahan since 2013 and is a part of the U-23 Iran team. He has regularly been called up by Alireza Mansourian. Here he scores the first goal in this game:

Both players are great candidates to be included on the new wave of Team Melli players. Make sure you keep a close watch on them in the game tomorrow.

In regards to last week, Valid did not feature, which was a disappointment for all.

This asian cup is really really too early, only 6 months after the world cup. We are going to lose 6 months and a competition to rejuvenate our team and prepare it to 2018.

Ahmadzadeh played brilliantly in the 40 minutes he got to play, this kid is a real talent.

Also, I've taken notice of Khaled shafi. He's not too young (26 years old) but seems like a great candidate for TM going forward since we will be in dire need of CBs fairly soon. He's making a great case...nice physique for a defender too.
