The infamous Perspolis vs Esteghlal match

This is the very famous Esteghlal vs Perspolis match that ended in a fight. Well at least I am glad we are not playing like that anymore. Its from 17 years ago. Obviously we have made some progress.

lol at the fouls...and the explosives..and players pushing the referee. Footballe Ali Asghari at its peak

ahh the good old days where the derby was a real derby. the excitement of old derbies was something else. players played with gheyrat back then. you could sense the intensity on every play even placing the ball for a penalty was filled with intensity. back then even our long balls were real long balls. abedzadeh kicking the ball down the field it would reach ss penalty box. most of those players would be worth in millards today by todays comparisons. love those narenjaks what happened to those? that was when azadi was real hell for opponents and no one dared to think of winning in there and not like now where small minow countries come in talking trash about how they are there for the full 3 points.

I have to agree the old derbies had another taste to them and the players of each side did not like each other! I think AFC stopped us from using explosives. But the level of the game with those long passes, and the pitch, and interruptions was pretty bad. We really have come a long way tactically too. I mean look at this game! Back then Esteghlal and Perspolis were Teame Melli.
