They need to do Asian cup every 2 years and WC every 3 years
Every four years!! The reason why the WC is so special and magical and holds such significance is because it does not happen so frequently, so when you qualify for it, it's special! It will lose its significance and magic if it comes around too quickly (i.e. every two years).
The push for 2 years and 48 teams is money-driven. And $ is destroying soccer and its traditions.
The argument by PSG in favor of 2 yrs referring to UCL is slghtly off, imo.
UCL by itself is an exciting tourny becoz we watch the best club football in the world. Correct.
But this is about the QUALITY of the tourny.
we are talking about novelty and the glory of qualifying for the WC. NOT the quality of football on display.
using the same UCL example. If a year a good club doesnt qualify for UCL, it's not the end of the world for them. All they have to do is wait some 8-9 months more to have a chance.
But if you miss a WC, you gotta wait for 3 and half years to have another chance at it.
THAT makes it like gold. Like something you'd tear yourself on the pitch to achieve.
on a personal note' Barca got thrashed in the past 2 seasons at UCL.
yeah. it was painful for a week or so.
But we know we're back in the race within a few months again (it's a different matter that barca management have all got shit in their skulls and have truly tried to destroy the club beyond repair as if they're controlled remotely from madrid)
so lets make a distinction between the quality on display in a tounmnt AND actually reaching it.
if you struggle and push yourself to the limit to reach something, only then you'd find glory in having done so.
End the World Cup. End the continental cups. End Olympic soccer.
Stage a world league where you move up and down the rankings. Theoretically you could play anyone as long as you perform.
It would also give Asian teams a chance to actually play decent European teams considering nations league has removed pretty much all friendlies.
Big clubs and fifa are already destroying football, might as well have some fun as an Iran fan.
I agere on end the olympic soccer at is current format, its a joke.
id rather have it every 8 years at the olympics, but with full squads and a proper qualifying campaign..

CL is prestigious because the best players are there. But that's the same with world cup too. The same CR7, the same neymar, the same messi. They just switch teams, jersey and teammates. The exotics teams of world club are also there in CL (sheriff tiraspol, nicosia, ferencsvaros..)
I don't understand how a TM fan can be so focused on wc prestige, except if he also supports an other national team like brazil Germany italy.. I could understand that from a German fan that see his NT play plenty of competitive games. Personally I don't even watch a wc without Iran, or wc games when TM is out.
And if you speak about prestige, what to say about Asian cup? No international TV broadcast it, the whole football doesn't give a clue. We even forgot that Qatar win it and who were the previous winners. A bunch of war torn country like yemen and Palestine joining the festival.
