Time to move out of our comfort zone!

Firstly congrats to everyone for the qualification and it honestly feels strange not having the stress of usual qualifications.

Currently we are playing a very disciplined type of football under Queiroz, sometimes a bit too safe considering the opposition however we have mastered this "un-risky" style and made it to the World Cup without any hiccups which is an amazing achievement.

At the last WC we basically parked he bus and at the time I think it was the right decision due to the lack of preparation, lack of new blood or new talents that had just made it to the team, however now we have a team that is gelled well together, we have an amazing attacking line up with a decent mid and defence.

I think it's time to try out new formations or at least attempt an attacking type of football. I don't want us to get to the WC and repeat the performance of last time, nor show too much respect to the teams. We have a great opportunity to experiment and try out new things with the time we have left

I would love us to try a 3-5-2 formation.

not a good idea. We have built with a solid tactical idea in plan ( spacing, pressing, etc) . it has worked, our players are familiar with it, and we will continue to use it. We need to improve our speed of play. We have the attacking players to be a threat to most sides. What we need to work on is alternating defense into attack quicker. We can't just alter the entire identity of the team because attacking football is nicer. CQ has talked about how the preparation plan and new training facilities will aid us in being able to play this quicker brand of football when we have the ball.

Also, we dont have the players to play 3 at the back. Hosseini, Montazeri, and PAG would be our three CB's. All of them are slow. We would get exposed instantly. And, we dont have other CB options that are viable to start besides possibly Purghaz, so we would be stressed. To completely alter our approach this close to WC, instead of build on the strong defensive foundation we already have would be a foolish mistake. In CQ we trust !

i think we should stick to our formation but use friendlies to improve on it, we dont need to use a new tactic

Great idea, lets destroy four years of work and consistency so we can try a new formation.

        This isn't FIFA.

I think our formation is really working well, and the players (especially the younger ones) have grown using this formation now. In other words, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it. I also doubt that we will see many new players invited, this formation and line up is going to the world cup (and there will be minor changes to the line up, in accordance to the opponent) but I assume that this will be about it

I don't think we parked the bus during the last WC.
I don't think getting out of comfortable zone is a good idea, cause it means disaster to come. Rather we should get better in our new comfortable zone under CQ and expand its widths and depths.
As football greatests such as Giovanni Trappattoni, Karl Heinz Rummenigge, Adesor Vafaseya have all said: "Best offense wins games, Best defense wins the tournament" - I say lets do what we discovered we can do best, which suits wise-men's philosophies...

i THINK this time around we will get some good friendlies...because we havent conceded any goals and stronger teams would wanna test themselves against a strong defense. Especially if we manage to keep clean sheets next 2 games then it'll be huge. i really hope that happens, we need some good friendlies.

Yeah man trying out a new formation for one half of a friendly or for a half in a meaningless match vs Syria is gonna ruin 4 years of hard work!

You play to your strengths. Sure we can get out of our comfort zone vs Syria, but not as preparation for the World Cup.

I think our main style of play will become more conservative. Its inevitable.
But we certainly need to get used to different tactics, in cases where our A and B Plans fall apart. Particularly finding a way to score when we're behind.

This is the exact point I'm trying to make. We have no plan b or c and we're predictable.

If CQ's 11-13 friendly games goes to plan then it would be a travesty to stick to the same game plan. This is about progression now and in CQ's own words, we can't be tourists at this WC.

The majority of European teams constantly experiment with new game plans and formations. I don't see why we shouldn't.

i think the last WC's complete debacle in a MUST WIN game vs Bosnia clearly exposed the dangers of CQ's ONE Dimensionality in our Tactical and Squad selection..!
yet we Badly lacked Depths and Experience in our pool of available WC caliber talents back in 2014..!(barring AK8/Azmoun's absentees which ive always claimed were a mistaken exclusions by CQ, especially in light of inclusion of some real scrubs and useless injured players ..!)
This time around we Certainly have far deeper/younger/ yet well enough experienced and tactically in-tune WC-Caliber Talent Pool at our disposal..!
We Still badly Lack Fluidity and Pace in our Transition Play.! we are also way too wasteful with golden chances and our Set Pieces and corner deliveries and finishing still leave much more to be desired.
the 3 back-line is too much of a departure from norm for us and doubt it will work as a short term attacking alternative either..!!?
Reliance ONLY on our overly safe/defensive approach works best in long, drawn-out qualifications tourneys BUT , IMO it isn't necessarily the Best approach to manage progress outa of groups and beyond at Tightly Scheduled/Physically demanding WC/AC and such short-lived tourneys..!
YET that should remain our PRIMARY Tactic and more Risky Attacking tactical changes should only be resorted to, on an IF NEED BASIS..!
YES we certainly gonna need bit more Tactical adaptability than we do currently and we have plenty of preparations time left to get more in tune with a varied attacking formation..!
I wouldnt touch our 4 man back-line but would think its wise to experiment with MF and attacking line..! Instead of our typical 4231, we could try a 442, 4141, 4132 ?? or Risk pushing forward our speedy Wing Backs into attack far more frequently than we do now in games where a Win is a Must or in come-back from behind situation..!!
                          ps
World cup competition is always played at Maddening Pace and Outmost aggressiveness and zeal..! Peak Fitness and Form preparedness is an Absolute must for all of our traveling squad ..!

Amazing Quote from our beloved CQ:

“We have built a team and a squad of 26 and more players and I have more options,” he said. “I have three goalkeepers, three right-backs and so on. At the next World Cup, I can rest people and keep them fresh for the games while keeping the same standard."
