iran greatest generation not to make the world cup

as all of you know iran has not made the world cup a few times, which generation was the greatest not to make the world cup?i would say the 2002 team, we had a excellent team, yet we still didnt make it, even though people would say 2010, 1994, i still think the 2002 team was good, good coach and players, ali karimi was great so was mahdavikia, karim bagheri was a shame we lost to irealand and not make it thourght

Undoubtedly our team for the 1986 and 1990 World Cups.
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

I'd go with 2002. This was acutally a sick team. With some great legionnaires (Daei, Mahdavikia; Bagheri) and youngsters (Karimi, Nekounam, Hashemian) and a great coach, I don't believe how we lost our spot to a team that lost 8-0 to Germany.

I know but what I'm saying is if we hadn't withdrawn in protest we would have easily qualified.

I wasn't old enough to remember the Iraq war years, but in the last 20 years, I think its the 2002 team. What a team that was.

Daei, Azizi, Bagheri, Kia along with the youth and potential of folks like khaziravi, karimi, nekounam, etc.

86 and 94! 86 was because of war and 94 was very suspicious, Iran had hell of team, They played amazing during first round, Gholampour was best goalie in league and then Abedzadeh got injured and Gholampour replaced him, there are many many rumors that because the WC was in USA, some players including Gholampour were threaten by some authorities in order to not perform, i remember when Parvin was back to Iran, he said there are many things that i need to talk about why we couldn't perform and for two or three years Parvin disappeared from everywhere, don't forget Parvin was very popular in that time.
Gholampour was allowing some goals that i was really shocked, specially with the way he was playing in league, goals from corner kick like the one vs Japan!.
For me that was worse WCQ experience following by 2002 maybe, anyway each time Iran failed to qualify was painful 1990, 2010 as well...
Look at the goal ghomalpour allowed vs Japan, it is very suspicious..

It indeed looks very dodgy. And this is the answer to those who said TM does not represent IR.

Yep. Gholampour's goals against one of the other teams (I think Korea) where we lost were also very suspicious.

I also heard very strong claims that players were also threatened in 2002. The game in Bahrain was very suspicious too.

We missed 94 and 2002 because we choked when it mattered. Not politics.
The conspiracies in Iranian football always make me laugh.

the fact is we didnt play great, but we have problems there, refree sucked, we didnt get a fair share, also thier players were bribed and caring saudi flag, however saying that i was super happy to see saudi lose 8-0 to germany, it showed they didnt deserve to go world cup, they didnt go to 2010 and 2014,and wont go to 2018 also
