10 Men Iran Says Farewell Like Champions

Iran with 10 men played almost an entire game (about 80 minutes).
Although Iran opened the scoring with the spectacular header by the 20 year old rising star prodigy,
following the Australian referee's decision to send off world cup steel defender, battled with a man down, falling
behind only in the extra time twice, once through a penalty kick and yet making heroic come backs twice in the dying
minutes of extra time. It was only in the penalties that Iran narrowly parted from the Asian Cup however like true Champions.

This is a conspiracy against Iranian football. And don't tell me I'm Iranian, I'm Kuwaiti and I follow Iranian football. Crossing off Mohammad Nouri, Ghassem Hadadifar, Mohsen Mosalman, Payam Sadeghian, Iman MobAli, Gholam Reza Rezaie, Mohammad Reza Khalatbari, Mahdi Sharifi, Rahman Ahmadi, and calling the likes of Mehradad Pouladi, Masoud Shojaie, Javad Nekunam, and Ali Reza Haghighi is something beyond our understanding. This is a betrayal at it's best.

If such was the case, it could have been said that how come world cup players were left out and other were in. It appears that Iran had to be eliminated
to increase the chances for Australia.

Iran were playing defensively in the World Cup. When they had to go for attack they were exposed. Do you think the Iranian squad, and midfield in particular, were even as good as average in the World Cup ? at least compared with the team that played exactly the same UAE team in 2011 ?

Please show the TM results which would show Australia should fear them. 1-0 results against 3rd tier Asian teams don't count.

Maybe one important factor to note is that since the 1984 Asian Cup, penalties has remained the major barrier. Please just go over previous Asian Cups to realize how many times penalties have been a disappointment. Either in quarter finals or semi's.

It's not about penalties, referee, and this game in particular. Iran were pulling back before the stupid Mehradad Pouladi was sent off. Was that what the Iranian football fans want from Carlos Queiroz and the IFF ? Were they good enough against Bahrain, Qatar and UAE ?

Probably the major disappointment is that like the game with Argentina in the World Cup the end was not only sweet but bitter. Bravery & heroism were not awarded. Success was not reached. It was sweet yet painful.

You have seen the National team of Iran for the last 4 games. Have you been convinced with the way they played ? You just can't send all those players home and not call so many others and expect Iran to win the Asian Cup or even pass the group stage. Did you see Carlos Queirozs reaction after the final whistle against Qatar ?

I've learnt it's not what you have in your life, but who you have in your life that counts

Javad Nekunam and Masoud Shojaie has either to be crushed by a fan or expelled from the National team.

                          Looking Ahead

The focus now should be on future. The next World Cup & of course the Olympics. Iran can make it.
