It is a huge blunder not to include Jahanbakhsh and Azmoun in the Asian Games squad

Guys, I just read the front page's discomforting news about Vingada not being able to include Jahanbakhsh and Azmoun in the Asian Games 2014 squad. Apparently the foreign clubs these players feature for are not obligated to comply with the release request, but Vingada can and should give the matter a serious try and see if he can recruit these two players for two weeks by personally contacting the club officials and making a plea.

I recall Iran had won the AG tournament in 2002 but finished third in 2006 and then again dropped to the fourth place in 2010. We have steadily declined at the Asian youth level and now need to stage a comeback to recover some respect and confidence. Sending a B-squad is not the way to go about the task. Also in my opinion, Vingada is NOT the right choice for leading this young team, due to his lack of inspiration and resolve (and perhaps dedication). We will not be able to finish at least third, an unnecessarily humble goal which he has communicated beforehand.

Considering the tournament is in South Korea and the expected high level of performance by the East Asian teams, I can see it weeks away that Iran will not manage to make it beyond the quarter finals. The IFF should proceed to remove the tired-looking Vingada asap and install Mansourian to lead the team (eventhough he is currently in charge of an IPL club, but he can take a short break). Mansourian did wonders with U-22 a couple of years ago and he can certainly deliver the goods again. Let's not take the Asian Games lightly and let's plan for the top prize, no less, or we will be sorry later.

Please indicate if you agree with my assessment and if there are any other comments or suggestions. I really want us to win the Asian Games 2014, 12 years after the last time we achieved that feat. It is a totally necessary step in developing our younger players for the future.

Asian games means nothing, it is not an important competition specially for Azmun that is developping into starting XI of Rubin. let give the chance to others.

I also think they benefit more from playing in their clubs than in this tournament. If the tournament was important, it would have been scheduled differently.

This is where I can say I am not really mentally an Iranian anymore... the way I am finding it so hard to gather any support for my ideas. I like to get solid results in anything which I attempt, and do not like to go in halfheartedly and under-prepared.

Asian games isn't important at all. Asian games are the continental version of olympics (in which football is not very important) in an area where football is very weak. It is nothing more than a friendly competition for our teams.

And I doubt scouts will watch this competition and scout our players : when you see that even when playing in the world cup or reaching the second round of U17 world cup twice our players are snubbed, it says it all.

Actually Azmoun and JB are still on the table to play for Iran in asian games. Especially azmoun who might lose his starting stop in the coming weeks, kazan might release him so he can get some quality minutes with Iran

why risk your place at our club to participate at this tournament, these boys are at a much higher level it is stupid to take them away from that for nothing.

Also this also give younger domestic players a chance to showcase their skill and get some attention.

FULLY AGREE!! If we can't use them for World cup and not for Asian games, then its pointless to send players abroad!! right now we need to win titles/trophies be it Asian Cup, Asian games or even West Asian games, we haven't had a worthy trophy for over 10 years now!!!!

Meh it's okay. Let them focus of their careers in Europe than winning some mickey mouse omid tournament that has nothing to do with olympic qualification. They will be better prepared for olympic by training in Europe than going to Asian Games.

PS: Most likely they will feature for Iran in Asian Cup 2015 which will mean missing 3-4 weeks and their clubs know that.
