Rahmati single-handedly saved Esteghlal and avoided a 3-1 or 5-2 loss against Damash!
OMG did you guys see that last second Damash shot saved again? In all honesty Esteghlal was super lucky to avoid a loss, let alone a draw!
Anyway Congrats Esteghlal, hard luck Damash, however much respect to Damash for such great footballing!

Poor Mazloumi didn't have any subs, while the players looked very tired. I'm just happy we got the 3 points. This team will get a lot better with the addition of Heydari, Meydavoudi, Karrar and Zandi etc.

It's still beyond me why and how Dinevarzadeh would sub out his 3 best players.
No conspiracy theories meant to be suggested, but am I the only one who found all his subs pretty awkward and bizarre? MK's lethal corner kicks and runs seemed like an imminent equalizer for Damash, he didn't even seem tired as he was running and play making just as good as his first half, if not better.
Zeneyedpour's beautiful shots and ball contributions to all parts of the field was startling, why did he get subbed out at such crucial time of the match when Damash was getting closer and closer to score the equalizer?
Overall an entertaining second half, worth skipping half day of work!

This is actually kinda alarming that we declined so much in the last 15-20 minutes. That was also the case last season which cost us ACL and a lot of poinst in IPL.
Gladly with Heydari, Meydavoudi, Karrar and Zandi back we'll have more depth on the bench which will improve this a bit. I'm just glad we got the 3 points, but this team still has a very long way to go!

It's quite disappoitning to see some members reacting in such inappropriate manner to those who criticize their team's performance, calling them with such remarks as "Haters" etc.
Esteghlal of the second half wasn't just good enough today and I for one spoke my mind and said it out loud that esteghlal of second half was very poor. I understand when you're one goal up your players naturally (Iranian players' mentality) retreat and start playing defensive, however even resorting to a defensive tactic for them failed big time as they let Damash players create so many dangerous scoring opportunities, and had it not been for their unlucky day and Rahmati's super saves, Esteghlal would have conceded easy 4-5 goals! Just re-watch the match and tell me if I am wrong with my game assessment!
Hell I am a much bigger critic of my beloved team Perspolis, so I guess my criticism of my own team will make me a hater on Perspolis! :D
This Damash I saw today can be within the top 5 IPL teams contenders, very solid in all areas!

I know it's only the second game of the season but we can honestly agree that both current coaches of the biggest teams in IPL, PP and SS, do not have the qualifications. I foresee one of the two coaches, Estili or Mazloumi, to be let go by the season's end. What separates SS from PP, they have well established and talented players who can win games even if they're playing with no rhythm or strategy.

With all due respect Pouya jaan it's your own fault, first because what you wrote on his Rep box was completely over the board and unethical, secondly you are too naive to fall for his tricks, he is a troll and a true instigator, he provokes other members knowing that he can take advantage of their naivety and exploit them, thus making them send him inappropriate messages via PM or Rep system, then he posts them on public forum to seek sympathy from all members, thus winning some fame and gain some respect out of pity from the rest of us!
I suggest all None-Esteghlali members to just avoid arguing or even responding to this man. He is a real and true meaning of a TROLL!

Esteghlal match was great to watch, and this is coming from a PP fan. Had great pace at times and there were many great chances.
key players:
Teymourian- kept very nice control of the midfield throughout the game and was the instigator of many SS attacks. He also worked great with Jabbari, and their one touch passing shows that used properly these two players could be deadly
Mahdavikia- i dont know why he was subbed off but his crosses and corners were exceptional today and in my opinion if he stayed on in those dieing minutes Damash could have scored off of one of those set pieces
Zeneidpour- had very nice accuracy in his shooting today and was very deadly, if Rahmati was caught off guard in one of those strikes he could have scored the equilizer... again he was subbed off in a key moment of the game
Majidi- he made many great runs and his finishing in the one great chance he got was as usual top class

Even though I am the first one to admit that we didn't play a good game, specially in the last 30 minutes of the 2nd half, everyone has to understand that Esteghlal was leading and defending a lead and that it was Damash that needed a goal and not us!
Had the game been 0-0 or was Esteghlal trailing, the match wouldn't have been the same, and we would have seen Esteghlal all over Damash looking for the win instead of moving back.
Remember last week's game against Sepahan where the game was tied and it was Esteghlal that was attacking and looking for a goal and Sepahan, despite playing at home, kept back and was looking for counter opportunities. They looked content with a draw...

That's very true Amin jaan, however keep in mind that Esteghlal today did a somewhat horrendous job in defending, they barely marked the opponents' players especially in their own box, thus letting Damash players to create so many dangerous scenes, had it not been for Damash players' sloppy finishes and unlucky shots and indeed Rahmati's startling performance, Esteghlal could have/would have conceded at least 4-5 goals.
The obvious must be said/admitted, Perspolis apparently was horrible and played just awful, consequently and deservedly lost to Shahin Boushehr, I take more honor and pride in admitting that my team sucked yesterday than denying the fact and claiming that we were the better team! (As opposed to a certain member over at PFDC who is notoriously known for his bias and none sense) ;) :D

oh c'mon you can't just say that. you're making esteghlal sound like they're trying to survive from relegation. even if they were defending their lead, the defense didn't do a good job of it after seeing how many times damash players easily penetrated to hit the post couple times and force rahmati into some very good saves. also teams that try to defend their lead, HOLD ON TO THE BALL. something esteghlal couldn't do. they would have been safer by trying to attack and hold on to the ball but in reality it didn't work out for them.
imagine european coaches of big teams saying that excuse after a game like that. it would be a joke for everyone.

According to the video that was posted by your buddy (not me) the chances were 12-9 in favor of ESTEGHLAL. You are unreasonably biased. Last week you said ESTEGHLAL was good because piroozi also drew and with the same result. You did not lose anything last week. Now that you have gone down three points you are changing colors. ESTEGHLAL was much better than damash and the victory was well deserved.
By the way the highlights are still a little biased as the scenes where ESTEGHLAL attacks were cut due to referee mistakes are not included. Plus the 12-9 figure includes the corner that went past ESTEGHLAL goal-line with no one even touching it. To say that damash should score 4-5 goals is just pure, unrivaled, bias.

dude there are certain things you just accept and go on but it seems you can't do that since you think just because you support this team, they're untouchable.
PP deserved to lose 2-1 today and draw 1-1 last week. Even if Taleblou was a beast or there were some questionable calls last week, I don't keep bragging about it like it would have changed the whole score.
PS: the video i posted was the only one on youtube at the time. i didn't make the video or ask the uploader to cut EsEs chances and possible fouls they should have gotten.

LOL I agree Amin jaan, my personal criticism wasn't meant to devalue Esteghlal's win and the 3 precious points. I criticize my own team's horrendous display in a much harsher and more relentless fashion to say the least. I do agree with you that at the end of the day what matters the most is the 3 points, therefore congrats to Esteghlal and its fans for that matter.
Many Esteghlalis called on Perspolis' lackluster and disappointing performance yesterday and I embraced their criticism wholeheartedly as I found them all constructive and valid criticism. We all nag and nag and nag and complain when TM performs poorly and wins with such lackluster performance (both games against Maldives and many more TM games)
I just wanna clarify and emphasize on the fact that my analysis of todays match was not to undermine Esteghlal's win, like I said before every time Esteghlal performs well I don't hesitate to applaud them and praise their good performance, on the same token I feel free to question their sloppy days like the second half of today, this doesn't mean I am a hater or jealous...
Nevertheless congrats to Esteghlal for the win! :)

Sorry but i really hate that excuse of "sitting back" after a goal, so thats why we had more chances against
And you wonder why all our teams sit back after taking a one goal lead?? This guy is not even playing, and his mentality is to sit back!! so why do you think the players who are in the heat of the game think this way too?
And then when our teams concede a goal, we all cry "Why were they sitting backk???"
Here is a question: Why would they sit back and allow more chances at their goal, when while they were attacking they were giving up slightly fewer chances??
I don't care about either club, I just watch IPL games because I want to see what TM or potential TM players are doing. The fact of the matter is Damash was pressing from the outset of the game, and more so when they conceded.
If EsEs was sitting back, thats fine, thats theirs, yours, and 90% of Iranian's strategy. Just don't act all bewildered and awestruck when they sit back and concede a barrage of goals like in the last ACL

I just wonder why most of us hate to see TM playing defensively, especially when they score a goal, while we tend to approve the very same tactical strategy being practiced by our fave clubs. It doesn't matter which and what team subscribe to that style of footballing, it's just that football for us as fans is not just about results, we wanna see our team play attractive, exciting and courageous football, defending with such small goal lead margin is the wost thing to do as it's just too shaky and unreliable to resort to all defense tactic.
Our TM is ultimately derived and consisted of our IPL assets, and right now our assets suck big time, because all I see from almost al IPL teams is nothing but cowardness and gutless coaching, and performance by players/teams. All throughout my life that I have followed Iranian football, never ever have I seen so many gutless and super-defensive teams and coward coaches, it's a new black in our football, a contagious disease being spread in the country, all teams score a goal or two, then retreat immediately and play anti-football or just all defensive.

I like the majidi and teymorian combination.. its nice :)
teymourian, jabbari and majidi combined well.
however, jabbari had a lot of wrong passes yesterday which is the main reason why we couldnt create much chances after we scored, he messed up a lot of counter attacks and build up play through wrong passes.
but he fought hard in the middle, which is something i havent seen of him before, so that was good.
hopefully with addition of zandi, karrar and heydari, we will have more depth in midfield and the option to subsitute players if any of them are having a bad day :)

Yea... suck up to the Islamic Republic...
so by your logic those who calls our team ESTEGHLAL are "suck up to the Islamic Republic" right?
it better be! if there's one person on this forum who's deserving of this it's you.
Pouya, good on your mate!
the people who deserve such language are the ones who use it; advocate using it; or support using it. ;)

not that I'm going by his logic Taj supporter but Pirouzi is the name IR is trying to force down on true Perspolisi fans throats. and they have failed. and you always try to use Pirouzi.
-2ndly yeah he used bad language BUT as far as I know REPS and PMs are supposed to be private. If print screened and shown on a public thread you should be punished. It's happened to members before so why the hell not you? Doesn't have to be a perma. banned.
-KorKori between eses and pp fans is NORMAL but you take it to a whole new level BEING highly disrespectful and BIASED towards PP fans. That there is provoking and insulting members. And you have done from time and time again when no one targets you and come up with posts like longi, etc. Don't forget we can call you estefragh anytime we want but we don't do it every damn day going after PP fans left and right. AGAIN HOW IS THIS GUY NOT EVEN WARNED BY MODS OR BANNED? Is it because of the number of EsEs mod fans we have here?

Keano jaan, as you know, me myself am one of the biggest criticizers of my team, and as I said myself, we played a bad game in the 2nd half.
No one is denying that Damash created some good chances and that Rahmati saved us a few times, however, I just can't digest the "Esteghlal should have lost by 3-4 goals" only because Damash created as many chances throughout the game.
Someone without any football knowledge comes up with such statements, because they don't understand that one event changes the whole game. SO had Damash f.e. converted their 1st big chance which hit the bar, it would have been a totally different game and all that pressure they put on us later on and the chances they created could have disappeared.
One can't speculate like that in football! I don't need to tell you from all people that the game would've been totally different if Damash had equalized. They would have never put so much pressure on Esteghlal if the game was tied! Instead, it would have been Esteghlal being all over them.
I mean we even did that in Esfahan when it was tied, against last season's champions in their home, so you think we would've sat back against Damash in Azadi if it was tied?!
Again, I am the first one to admit that we played a bad 2nd half and that Damash created some very good chances, however, in football one can't just count the chances created and say "team x created 3 chances more than team y, so team y should've lost by 3 goals", simply because it would be a totally different game if let's say the 1st chance was converted into a goal.

Seriously, what are you talking about?! Have you even read my posts in the past??!
If there is one person who HATES this "sitting back after a goal"-mentality, then it is me! Just read the live report threads of Esteghlal and/or TM from the last few years and you'll see how many times I have criticized the coach, my own team and its players or TM players/coach for doing that!
All I did was to state why Damash created all those chances which they created and why they could put us under pressure so much in the last period of the game. Nowhere did I agree with it or did I condone it!
Unfortunately it seems to be an Iranian football mentality, we see it in all our teams, from the youth, up to TM. The only one who doesn't really resort to defending after taking a lead is Ghalenoi. That is why I loved him as a coach in Esteghlal and that is why we usually saw scores of 3-0, 4-1 or even higher, not only in Esteghlal but also in Sepahan.
Personally I have this "attack is the best defense"-mentality...don't know, perhaps because I've grown up with Dutch football/coaches, so personally I would never sub in an extra DM or a defender when I am leading and would never move back and allow the opponent to put me under pressure!
You don't even need to go back much; just read the ACL threads of last season and you'll see how many times I cursed at my own team for moving back after taking a lead!

A general statement for everyone:
(Neg) Reps and PM's can and will be moderated if needed to! Just because they are "private" doesn't mean you can say whatever you want in there. It's still under PFDC and they will be monitored!
If you really want to send something in private to eachother, use MSN or an email or whatever, but not in here please!
If you have any questions, PM me, or another Mod.
Thanx.
ps: off-topic posts have been deleted and further action has been taken where needed.

Taj = crown ... linked to a form of government
Perspolis = Takht e Jamshid... capital of the Hakhamaneshi empire
one is a political affiliation... the other is a georgraphical-historical one...

Majidi's goal was pure class; he is one of the few true strikers left in IPL. If allowed the smallest window he will punish you. If he continues to score such beautiful goals, I can't see CQ denying him the chance with TM, at least during the qualification round.
