well, after WC1978, Nasser Hejazi was the first Iranian Player to get an offer from a European Club and it was no club less than ManUtd. He even passed his trial period there.... but then the revolution.... and the "hairy IFF" refused to let him play for "Westerners"

same happend to Namjoo Motlagh in 1990, where he was approached by Paris St. Germain.


the lucky ones, with new IFF, were Ali D. and Karim Bagheri who were approached by Arminia Bielefeld, where they were allowed to join.

Hejazi was actually held back by Taj's chairman at the time; Khosravani. There is a interview with Frank O'Farrell about it.

• اين اتفاق چقدر به شما دلگرمى داده است؟
- وقتى يك مربى بزرگ مثل فرگوسن نامه مى دهد و اظهار همدردى مى كند، كار بسيار بزرگى است و من دلگرم مى شوم. در ايران هم يك سرى از دوستان و اطرافيان ناراحت شدند كه اين اتفاق برايم افتاد اما خيلى از آقايان راحت مى شوند و مى گويند بگذار طرف بميرد تا راحت شويم!
• مگر شما چه مزاحمتى براى آنها داشته ايد؟
- نمى دانم اما اگر مزاحم نبودم كه بيرونم نمى كردند. حتماً با آنها همسو و هم فكر نبودم. من بله قربانگو نبوده و نيستم و اگر بودم الان سر كار بودم و پست هاى مهم به من داده بودند.
• با اين به نظر مى رسد احساس غريبى مى كنيد؟
- خيلى، البته براى مردم غريب نيستم. مردم مرا خيلى دوست دارند و همين مسأله به من دلگرمى مى دهد. من براى افراد ديگرى غريب هستم اما مردم هميشه به من محبت دارند.
• وضعيت بيمارى شما به كجا كشيد؟
- دوران درمانم تمام شد و فقط پنجم ارديبهشت بايد چكاب كامل از ريه ام صورت گيرد. ديگر آمپول نمى زنم. خانه ما مثل بيمارستان شده است چون آتيلا رباط پاره كرده و پاى او مورد عمل جراحى قرار گرفت و بقيه افراد خانه هم مشكلاتى دارند و در حال حاضر خودم از همه سالم تر هستم.
• روحيه خيلى خوبى هم داريد.
- بالاخره بايد زندگى كرد. كارى نمى توان صورت داد اما انشاءالله به زودى به تلويزيون مى روم و به صورت زنده و مستقيم حرف هايم را مى زنم. چون آنجا راحت تر مى توانم صحبت كنم.
• به اسلواكى برمى گرديد؟
- قرار بود بروم اما هوا خيلى سرد است و اگر بروم به مشكل مى خورم. چند هفته ديگر اگر هوا خوب شود، براى ۲ بازى آخر تيم مى روم و اگر حالم كاملاً خوب بود، براى فصل بعد برنامه ريزى مى كنيم
