Hi Blues;
Sorry for me being away for a long time. I sure missed you guys. Life hasn't treated me nice, so I couldn't spend time as much as I like. Anyhow here is my question?
What do you think about the Ashtiani's leadership in Eseteghlal? Is he as good as Habib Kashani was in PP 2 years ago? Please be specific and try list what do you see as his pros and cons.
I know all of these guys are Hezbollahis and all, but reality is currently country is being run by these people. So he or rest of these hezbollahis aren't ideal but within the current system what do you think of him?
I have my opinion but I share later in order not bias the responses.
Looking forward to hear your input.

His leadership is gay. So is himself.

Unfortunately he has a big mouth, nice promises but small and weak acts and appearances.
I still can't believe we lost Ghalenoi because of Ashtiani.
Plus he is very very close to AliAbadi, that can't be something good.

he seems to have some managerial principles which he sticks to firmly, which generally is good.
trying to avoid inflation of players, making sure every decision is made through the right channels and by the right people, making sure he is involved in major decision makings and player transfers, etc is all good.
i dont know if these are all his intentions really or not, but if they are, its good and is the first step towards professionalism.
vaez seems to be the type of manager who wants to have everything under his control and gives little empowerment to his subordinates. the advantage of this is if he is really a man with niyate kheyr and here to serve esteghlal, he will be reducing the frauds, cheats and dalal bazi greatly by getting involved in most of the clubs decisions at any level.
the disadvantage however is that his subordinates will feel pressurized and will want more freedom (like GN's case for example). but then again, unless his subordinates all have niyate kheyr and are professionals themselves, i think vaez needs to interfere and make sure everything is under control.
but the problem is for a club esteghlal, this will be next to impossible to implement.
fans are impatient and want immediate results. there is lots of dalal bazi and hashie created by ill wishers who dont want them to succeed.
there are mafia groups who are always trying to put each other down by hook or crook. all this will only hinder the progress towards professionalism and make it even slower, if at all possible. eventually fans and media will lose their patience and cool, critics and ill wishers voices will become stronger and vaez has to step down or will be fired. even if vaez becomes successful, he will start becoming powerful and then, he will be removed to avoid becomin too strong and influential that he can reject his superiors orders.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I am more in line with Yashar's commetns, although I am not as pessimistic as he is (maybe I don't want to be). But as Martin Luther King once said " I have a dream". The dream in which everything eventually will improve.
I would like to point out that SS now is somewhat being run more like a club. There is a technical comittee that oversees head coaches (main thing GN didn't want). You might say who are the members of this technical committee, how qualified they are etc. etc. All valid questions. However for me the mere fact of putting this institutions in place is a positive step. This is how real clubs of the world are being run (i.e. how they evaluate the performamce of a head coach, rather than head coach saying trust my words)
SS practices is being started on time. to you this might not mean much. But in our country that every one (including you and I) aren't known for punctuality this means a lot.
His emphasis on discipline. SS players aren't allowed to interview as they please with the press (specailly we know how creative Iranian press can get).
He as a representative of an Iranian club reps in the Asian club meeting offered ideas and wanted Asian clubs to follow European models.
SS has invested in certain bank. This potentially can mean first step toward an independent source of income for SS. Small yet important precedence.
Players and coaching staff dues have been paid relatively on time (comparing to past years). There isn't so much drama in the papers about SS players and coaching staff. Siavash Akbarpoor is a ghetto guy, so is Sadeghi , etc. Borhani best goal scorer of last year and Hossein Kazemi are on the bench and not much drama in papers. That is a good sign to me.
I have been getting so much niche and kenayeh from Ala and company about GN and all, so it is not like I am anti GN. But AFC showed GN isn't a man that can take a club somewhere at the Asian club level. Addition of Rute Muller and Rainer Craft (and even if these guys aren't the right guys some other forigner coaching staff) is the right step.
Ashtiani has cons as well. As Kasra pointed out his PR with media is specailly weak. To some degree his style of management somehow reminds of me Ali Daie's style. My way or highway. But what can one expect from someone that is all his life is being rasied in such an environment.
His newspaper duel with GN was awful. The lowest point was when there was a claim that Reynaldo's injury in part was due to GN's practices.
All in all I haven't made up my mind about Ashtiani yet. Ultimately it is all about winning and SS results this season (specially in AFC league) will be what determines his success or lack of.
However, compared to past chairmans of the club (i.e. Fattollahzadeh who wanted to blast a bomb), Or Oliyiee or that other guy who was in GN's pocket (when that list issue to AFC happened)I think he is a step forward.

The problem is, now we're getting used to this idiot, but the CEO of Sazman Tarbiat Badani is gonna change. Are we gonna have another CEO for Esteghlal as well?
Are we going to have an adaptation time again? (The main question is: are we gonna get screwed again?)

He is very Close to the Saidloo. They were both in the board of the cycling federation and besides that, supposedly are very close. This probably means more power for Ashtiani.
In a related news, team has fined Enayati, Akbarpoor for not showing up in proactice and Borhani, Baykzadeh for arguing with the ref and getting a yellow. I think these are all good sign of discipline coming back to the club.

What has puzzled me the most, is the fact that, all of the sudden, out of no where, Ghlamhossain Mazloomi, come to Esteghlal, and the top position...I wonder where he has been all these years, and what brought him back ?
yet,I am glad he is there !

Gholamhossein Mazloomi is the older brother Parviz Mazloomi and was always around SS, but never is such a direct front office role.
Ashtiani has put in place a technical committe to oversee Marfavi. This was one of the major point of differences with GN.On top of that the so called Peeshkesvatan committee is SS is getting active.
Ashtiani seems to have some ego issues but as the saying goes "tooye Shahre Koorha, yek cheshmeeha Soltanand".

Ali jaan....I know all about Gholamhossain mazloomi,as he was my childhood hero !....although.perspolise fans used call him " Mordeh Khor ",but he and I took that as complement, which was his killer instincts..and makeing goals with little opportunities....and great heading ability,etc....
But,I wonder were he has been before...and why all of the sudden came to esteghlal, and why they give him a top post ?without any managerial experince ...yet,as I said before, I am glad he is there, because atleast he is a Football person, and not a selectee by Mullahs.
